Spawn of Chaos

edit: added picture
Heya @all
This time it's going to be serious...! My goal is to have an army of at least 1000 points painted by the end of 2011.
As I kind of "overthought" my previous armies I wanted to do better this time, to finally finish one of my approaches.
In the end I just went to the store with the intention of starting Chaos Space Marines (because Marines are boring nyehehe ) and bought whatever I thought would be cool
... so here I am - having no idea of what to do next
In the end I started with some basic troops as I would need them anyways.
I went for Slaanesh because... uhm... it wouldn't be fun if I knew, right?
uhm yeah... some pictures of what I did last night
there are some more views of the gs work in the gallery, just click on the pictures ^.-
It would be awesome if you would tell me what you think and so on
... and sorry for the blurry pictures... I'm just not good at that stuff T.T

Lol, making an army without knowing how you're going to play it reminds me of myself Good luck, and I really like the flamer!

@phototoxin: that's a really good question... I have no idea but I want to do something unorthodox and with an interesting scheme... maybe something orange blackish or possibly blue ...?
@orkboy232: thanks mate gonna do some painting tonight!
@Blitza da warboy: thanks thats kind of ... more interesting, right?
--------------------------------
Update time!
Last night I assembled 3 more guys and I have to admit, those flamer dudes are real fun to put together! btw they're both from AoBR... but mold lines are so damn annoying to remove! Can't someone please invent something to remove them automatically??
I think I'm gonna be taking a break from assembling and start to paint some
...haven't decided on a theme though o.O maybe something orange... I quite enjoyed painting orange last time... we'll see
Enough talk - pictures!
Did I already mention that my fingers hurt like crazy??
-ah and don't try using guitar strings if you're not patient at all! They seem so easy and awesome, but they actually are the hell to deal with!
Anyways c&c appreciated and see ya next time with some painting done

I've found that guitar strings are very sharp ended and an absolute pain in the bum to bend
Will be interested to see how you plan to paint these, as you have interesting GS additions to make your stuff a little bit different and characterful.

@logg_frogg: You're definetily right man, but thats a whole lot of miniatures, mostly unassambled and would cost me at least an hour q.q ... maybe tomorrow
@Haonn: glad you like him ...actually its not weathered at all just 2-color primed for nicer blendings. Although I have to admit it really does look weathered... should keep that in mind for tanks maybe? Will need some time to try things out
------------------------------------------------
okay so I put a few more together and have a full squad assembled now ... and still haven't finished the backpack ah btw is there any way to prevent that white "frost" that comes with the super glue? I use a rather cheap one so its pretty extreme and I don't want to use PVA glue tbh... any ideas??
I'm really glad you guys like the scheme! I thought I'd ruined it for sure because I kinda overdid it with the weathering I feel like but anyways - onto the new stuff
I may have gone a bit overboard with the champion... but it looks so cool
ah and someone should have told me how to put that slaanesh-pad on... those spikes got in the way of the backpack and I had to put a little spacer there - does it look bumpy?

Spawn of Chaos

Okay so I've had amazing progress these past days! I kinda semi-finished my first ever scratch-built tank! It's a Vindicator with deamonic possession and I think it looks quite nicely so far even though I made some mistakes >_>
This is how it looks right now:
I don't know if you can see this from that angle, but the sides aren't parallel at all :( But luckily there will be a dozer blade later to cover that part up
What do you think about the Cannon? Close to the real one? Too small? Too big? Just right? (Hopefully the failed symmetry of holes won't be to much of a problem...)
This is the more normal side of it, but I tried to keep the theme of the eyes. Do you think, I would need some kind of "surrounding" for them?
Just to mention it - cutting those little rectangles in a pain in the bum!
This is the other side, I tried to cover it up in mutations and eyes but I'm frightened it may look a bit flat... - not the best picture though but you get the idea. Still need to finish off some eyes.
And we're finally here... my biggest concern so far... Is this ott? Kinda feels like it, because how would he be able to close the hatch with all those cables and stuff? And what to do with the remaining cable coming from his mouth? any ideas?? Do those GS cables look alright or just crappy? - damn those pictures are frickin' bad Seriously need to take some better ones
Anyways, tell me what you think and what I could improve please (and I will take some better pictures once I find the time to do so as those don't serve it well )

thanks a lot sir
---------------------------------
Heya again I feel like its time for an update!
To be super honest, I haven't been doing a whole lot... mainly some more work on the tank, which I will show when there is more to see and painting a bit more.
I finished the backpack of my Icon-Bearer and glued it with PVA glue for not having that "dust" of the super glue. Hopefully it won't fall off... Additionally I started 4 more dudes and have their bases done + first few layers of orange paint applied.
I took some better pictures this time and tried to photoshop them a bit - work somewhat good... they look a bit glossy though, what they actually aren't -.-
Anyways - onto the pictures!
I uploaded them full size this time so if you want to you can zoom in and tell me what you think
I'm especially worried about the weathered armor as it looks kinda off... dunno, what do you guys think?
uhm.... if anyone would know a decent name for my legion I would very much appreciate that! I thought about something like "Seekers of Vengeance" or something similar but I'm not sure... ideas?
C&C welcome

woah that sure was a long time
okay being honest, I had quite the lazy week - mainly due to heat! *grumbl* but I still got some stuff done! (not a lot though...)
First of all I dropped that dumb idea of scratchbuilding all of my Rhinos. I was so annoyed by that damn plasticard after such a short time... so I bought myself a nice lil' Chaos Rhino ...hopefully I can get that gunner off...
Additionally I started to work on the tracksection of my vindicator and the dozer blade
...and still didn't continue to paint u.u gonna start tomorrow! - I promise >.>
uhm pictures?
Size is pretty even imo. Not sure about the tracks though... there's a lot more space between tank and tracks in GW's Rhino - still okay?
Any ideas about how to 'chaosify' the Rhino?
Are those spikes allright or ott? not sure...
thoughts?

thanks a lot guys
I have had some bits of progress - not a whole lot though...
I don't feel like typing a lot so I'll just let the pictures speak for the most part
aah and this is still in progress!
Should I be adding blood to the chainsword and weather the guns?
Do the bases look somewhat similar or is there too much of a difference?
I feel like I failed with the horns... already redid them 3 times q.q
- they looked so nice on my test mini!
don't tell anyone but I've gone back to making paintcards while painting ...
so what do you think?

Did I already mention that I'm participating here?
So there is going to be a bit of sorcererconverting to come!
I started today and this is what I have until now. I'm gonna post here and in the other thread.
I will model a burning eye out of that ball in his hand and I will add some details to the scythe next. Not sure about the head though...
What do you think about the base? I certainly had my fun with it ...I did ruin the base a bit though as I melted it some... u.u
Anyways, what do you think?

I worked a bit more on my sorcerer. Added GS for the wings and started the burning eye. I am not really satisfied with the backpart though...
Will need to work a bit on the scythe next. Wings need some filing and filling but the basic shape is somwhat how I want it to be.
Now that I look at it I have to admit that I actually like the head just as it is... might even even leave it like that.
The base is just "borrowed" I am correcting mistakes on the original one. Sorry for the blurry pictures, it's pretty dark here already...

So I thought I could work a bit more on my Chaos dudes .... I know I didn't do anything for the past 4 months, despite holidays, but.... *insert bad excuse here*. Anyways! I've been painting! I tried a lot of new techniques on these guys. I think I finally found the way I'll be going for when painting my dudes. Backpacks to come. If you have any ideas about what do to better or what to change, I would greatly appreciate it! Now working on the Rhino and building up more stuff! "grey" updates to come - bought a deamon prince! Almost have everything together now - any ideas for a greater summoned deamon? I don't like any of the available deamons from GW... any ideas for converting one or anything similar...?
