Unfortunately Dick Tokyo was branded as "an obvious effort to troll and antagonize an existing user", which unfortunately lead to him being cut down in his prime. I personally am glad to see that our ever-vigilant and equitable staff of moderators were on hand to stamp this malevolent entity out of existence before KK was unnecessarily antagonised. I know he's a sensitive soul. This thread is clear evidence of the extent to which he has been shaken - to the very core.

Also an evil twin can actually be quite nice -- look at Evil Spock in Star Trek.

Weren't they technically the same person? I haven't seen "Mirror, Mirror", but according to Wiki, he seemed fairly neutral, with his decisons leaning to the exploration of knowledge. As I believe Spock is.

He fit the definition. In fact he helped to establish the archetype of the evil twin by (a) parallel universe existence and (b) goatee beard.

However he was much more neutral than the other evil twin Enterprise crew members.

I didn't realize someone could be banned from Dakka for a single one sentence post that contained no inappropriate language.

I guess I need to re-read the forum rules, I'm obviously getting rusty.

They can be banned for creating a sock puppet account, and for creating an account too similar to an existing user which appears to be a trolling ploy.

In this case, it seems that Jazz made the new account in jest, and K_K took it in that spirit.

However, the moderators are not mind readers and the majority of sock puppet accounts are made for evil purposes.

I'm glad everyone has realized it was a joke, at least. In light of that, maybe a review is in order? I'm just saying, I never met him, but Dick Tokyo seemed like a nice enough guy, even if he was evil.

Also, I guess my main point is that humor and the ability to sort of laugh at ourselves used to be one of Dakka's most compelling features. It'd be a shame to see that go away, and I hope this situation isn't a sign of things to come.

Indeed, we have had quite a few abusive sock puppet accounts created in the last couple of weeks so donning our jackboots and stamping them out is the standard and appropriate response. As mentioned, there is no way to tell context from those sorts of accounts and cross referencing IPs is only something I can do, so if I am not around (or am not being lazy), it is safer and easier to just kill the second account and often outright block the IP address to stop more being set up.

So basically what you're saying is, if we want to create an evil twin account for humorous purposes, we need to fill out and submit the proper request forms first? Maybe someone should create an article on it.
