"President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The committee said they gave it gave it to Obama partly for his idealism and commitment to global cooperation, but mostly for calling Kanye West a jackass." --Conan O'Brien
"President Obama should get a big refund this year because he has a lot of dependents. AIG, Citibank, Morgan Stanley -- all dependents." --Jay Leno

"So they gave the Queen an iPod. I remember when British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was here, the Obamas gave him a DVD box set. So, it looks like they're saving the big gift, the Nintendo, for the Pope." --Jay Leno
There are plenty of jokes out there, and I haven't heard one claim of racism over them. For the most part the jokes aren't very funny because Obama doesn't have strange mannerisms or ridiculous policies to make fun of. There aren't many jokes about a lot of Republicans like Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell or John Boehner, while there's plenty of jokes about Clinton, Palin and Bush because they did a lot of things to attract comedy.
If you want your precious Republicans to stop being made fun of, stop electing absurdities like Palin and Bush.

Funny the Daily Show pokes fun at Obama when John Stewart is such a brain-washed liberal.

Jon Stewart is almost-certainly smarter than you or me, and has genuine integrity.
...Stewart has since hosted almost all airings of the program, except for a few occasions when correspondents such as Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, and, for one week, Steve Carell[citation needed] have filled in at the anchor desk. Stewart has won a total of ten Emmys for The Daily Show as either a writer or producer.[8] In 2005, The Daily Show and Jon Stewart also received a Best Comedy Album Grammy Award for the audio book edition of America (The Book). In 2000 and 2004, the show won two Peabody Awards for its coverage of the presidential elections relevant to those years, called "Indecision 2000" and "Indecision 2004", respectively.
One of the show's most serious moments remains the September 20, 2001 show[38]—the first show after the attacks of September 11, 2001. The show began with no introduction. Prior to this date, The Daily Show introduction included footage of a fly-in towards the World Trade Center and New York City. The first nine minutes of the show included a tearful Stewart discussing his personal view on the event. His remarks ended as follows:
“ The view... from my apartment... was the World Trade Center... and now it's gone, and they attacked it. This symbol of American ingenuity, and strength, and labor, and imagination and commerce, and it is gone. But you know what the view is now? The Statue of Liberty. The view from the South of Manhattan is now the Statue of Liberty. You can't beat that."[38] ”
Another notable moment occurred on April 4, 2006, when Stewart confronted his longtime friend, US Senator John McCain, about his decision to appear at Liberty University, an institution founded by Jerry Falwell, a man who McCain had previously denounced as one of the "agents of intolerance,"[39][40] In the interchange, Stewart asked McCain, "You're not freaking out on us? Are you freaking out on us, because if you're freaking out and you're going into the crazy base [politics] world—are you going into crazy base world?" McCain replied, "I'm afraid so." The clip was played on CNN and created a surge of articles across the blogosphere.[41][42]

He is so smart in fact that he told an interviewer that the US should have warned the Japanese by dropping the first of 2 bombs in the ocean as a warning because apparently the million+ leaflets we dropped 5 days prior to the first bomb falling wasn't enough of a warning.
Yes, that shows intelligence to me. We wasted 1 of 4 testing the bombs so let's waste another one to warn them because somehow that would have been a more effective than dropping leaflets that were clear and concisely laid out our intentions.

Fateweaver, you as a gun owner should know that a warning shot is always more of a deterent than a verbal "stop or I'll shoot" warning.

Oh he was serious when he said it.
Warning shots SOMETIMES deter but when it took the US years to build 4 of them and at the time about 30 Billion dollars it would have been a huge financial waste of money to drop 1/4th of our nuclear arsenal in the ocean when it was cheaper to just print off millions of plain as day leaflets.
That and you honestly think announcing to the japanese the time and place we were going to drop the bomb as a warning for all to see that they would have sat back on their laurels and not tried to shoot the plane down, thereby for sure wasting a bomb and costing americans their lives.
Video is below. It is very apparent JS was serious about his solution.

If you found a leaflet from a foreign country indicating that their demon cannon would cause aliens to explode from your chest, would you believe it?
That's about what any leaflet discussing the nuclear bomb would express prior to it detonation.

They couldn't have shot the plane down. That's why B-29s were so important.
Yes, he was. Its historical speculation. It makes some sense, far more than any of the nonsense potshots you're attempting to take in order to pretend that you can claim intelligence.

Read the video LL. It's been speculated, correction, proven that to not use the bombs would have cost millions more japanese lives and 100's of 1'000's more American lives than what did.
The pre-nuke fire bombings account for more damage than the nukes did.
I'm glad you value human life but what is the lesser of 2 evils......killing 150,000+ with 2 nukes and no American lives lost as a result of nukes or NOT dropping the nukes, continuing the firebombings, killing millions more japanese and 100's of thousands more Americans.
Elementary logic dictates the former was more humane than the latter. Liberals hate it when you use logic to prove a point though so it's no surprise some liberals like JS still think Truman was a monster.

It can't be proven. It can be speculated. Those are very different things.

I hate it when you use the word logic in the context of an argument which does not turn on it. Logic does not generate moral conclusions, because moral conclusions require an assumption of valuation. You don't know what you're talking about. Try to be less of an ignorant caricature of the right wing.

Writing as a Liberal, and as someone who supports the dropping of the bomb (because I'm generally convinced that they would not have surrendered), FW, you're missing the point. You also don't have the courtesy to admit your error in regards to shooting down a B-29.
It's entirely speculative whether an ocean drop as a warning would have worked. We can't know one way or the other. That said, as FITZZ notes, a warning shot is much more effective than a leaflet. It's certainly not a stupid idea.
But go on impugning Stewart's intelligence. When you make certain kind of posts, you just further and further marginalize your opinions to your audience.

Wow we're really off topic now.
On dropping the bomb, I don't know what I would have recommended in July of 1945 but sitting here in December of 2009 we already know the answer.
Japan did not surrender after the Hiroshima bomb. They did not even consider surrender. We know this because historians interviewed the people who made up the war cabinet and were in the meeting with the Emperor.
Japan did not surrender after the Soviets entered the war against them and took northern China and Korea. We know they did not consider it then.
Japan did surrender after the Hiroshima bomb, the Soviets entering the war AND the Nagasaki bomb and even then it was a close call. Almost half the war cabinet was in favor of a charming little policy they called '100 Million Die together'.
They were already giving out bamboo spears to school boys to fight the Americans on the beaches.
So in July of 1945 a warning shot might have been a reasonable idea. But with the information we have now we can say with a good amount of certainty Japan would not have surrendered.
That being said I don't begruge anyone their opinions on it, I just disagree.

The problem is, Japan refused to risk the life of thier Emperor in an 'unconditional surrender'. If they did that, than America could have walked in, put the Emperor up for war crimes and have him executed like a common criminal. And Japan most definitley did NOT want that.
They were much more obliged to surrender when they knew that the Emperor was safe.

So, Fateweaver tries to claim that the rightwing is persecuted because people made more jokes about Bush and Palin than they do about Obama. When that argument collapsed, Fateweaver claimed John Stewart isn't smart because he once made a point about the bombing of Japan that Fateweaver disagrees with. Even if Fateweaver is right and it was right to drop the bomb in exactly the manner it was done (and apparently its been proven... perhaps with SCIENCE!), it means John Stewart once made one unprepared comment that wasn't true.
That's what we've reached here, Fateweaver's argument is that Stewart once said one thing that wasn't true.

Okay. $US 30B for the Manhatten project.
Actually 1 bomb out of 3 as 1 was a test so $10B worth of research for a warning shot.
Obviously not the cost per bomb but when it took 2 or 3 years to make 4 bombs and we had 3 left using 1 as a warning shot wouldn't have been very smart.
That would be like Lambo making 24 exotic sports cars that have a sticker of $1.5M a piece and using 8 of those in a demolition derby.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.”
