Well I can't take allied land raiders, you can only take certain things, it's annoying. Though I will take crusaders for the heavy support, and I NEED a grey-knight hero to make the army legal.

Daemonhunter LR Crusaders come w/ multi-meltas.

Your LR upgrades should just be...

extra armor
smoke
dozer blade (and this is if you're on a terrain heavy map)

Pintle mounted and psycannon bolts are a total waste of points.

Use those points you're clearing up to give your stormtroopers meltaguns and flamers.

Yeah, my current upgrades are going to be a waste against all but one (maybe two) armies. Though I don't know about the flamers, no matter what I do, I don't think this army can ever do well against any horde...

Pretty brutal list. 7 Raiders can contest every objective possible in a Seize Ground mission. Ow.
Drive each one in a little circle around each objective for the 4+ to hit in melee every turn, and you're looking at some hard-assed Land Raiders.

I don't even know how I'd counter a list like this. I'm a biker Marine guy, with Speeders and mech Tacticals to round out the force. I also like my Ven Dreads.
All of that withers under lascannon fire. The only thing I can think of to stop this list is using a trio of Attack Bike squadrons with multimeltas. I'd have to turbo-boost a lot for cover saves from the ID-causing lascannons, though. Attrition from ID would be tough to overcome.

Of course, I never tailor for lists, since I'm relegated to getting all my games in on tournament day, and all-comers is needed then. I'd simply try to maneuver smartly, using screens of units that can't touch the Raiders to try to get my melta weapons to bear.

As for what other folks in my area might try...hmmm...

The Nidzilla player would probably just try to meet the Raiders head-on and hope for good armor penetration rolls before his Fexxen are cut down by lascannons. If you focus fire on one at a time, you could likely take out 2-3 per turn.

Our IG Armored Fist player would harry your flanks with Vendettas and MeltaVets, while trying to land battlecannon shots. He likes the plasma tanks though, so he'd be at a huge disadvantage there.

The Ork players would likey just try to mob up around your tanks, losing 5 per mob every turn from your tank shooting, but preserving the PKs for the guaranteed charge attacks every turn once they're in range. Luckily, a Crusader or two can sweep Orks off another tank, like that scene in Saving Private Ryan. lol.

We've also got a crafty Deathwing player who'd probably delay his whole force, and go for chain-Shakes on the Raiders to keep them from firing at his squads. He's really good at mixing his squad armaments to play wound allocation games.

The Tauplayer would likely swarm you with those fusion gun things on his suits, and Hammerhead rail shot. Pathfinders markerlighting each tank in turn til it was dead.


It is a tough list to face if you're not tailoring for it. And we don't play 2500 point games but once a year for Ard Boyz. Tough to say what the reaction to it would be. Sad thing is, it's not even all that expensive a list, moentarily, to build!

It would depend on who got the first turn.

14 twin linked lascannons firing at 7 different DE paper warships=taking down 7 raiders/ravagers in a turn.

I realize that a ton of dark lances would tear up these land raiders but they have to be able to shoot first.

=P Hmm... from what everyone has been saying, I have taken a few things...

1) Keep the enemy at an arm's length, CC and Melta's are my #1 enemy

2) MELTA/LANCE weapons will endanger my land raiders... ALOT.

3)IG will put up a very, VERY tough fight.

4) Did I mention Melta is a big threat...?

Their GK LRCs. They come with automaticily come with a MM.

Spread the Inq Land Raiders out for maximum annoyance (I mean Auspex/Mystic coverage). Storm Troopers and the GKBC run in the Crusaders.
Storm Troopers give anti-Land Raider
GKBC shoots hoards and counter assaults.
Lord Inq acts as anti-TEQ - 8 BS4 S7 AP2 shots, with 1 reroll for anyone who rolls a 1.
Inqs stay in the Land Raiders.

Yep, Id say your biggest threat it melta/S10 blast spam IG or Lance spam DE.

However, there is the interesting suggestion of running BT - If you didn't mind about switching armies, it would certainly render DE impotent agaist you. (Obvoiusly, DE are pretty rare, so it may not be that important)

There is a fairly standard ork list that can tackle this fairly easy. I actually ran it recently at a local tournament at 2k points so wont be hard to update it to 2500 and then i saw a tau list that would laugh at this army even at its 2k point list that i saw it at, and its a faily common gun line for tau.

Not the exact army but something i would run at 2500 points to go after any MEQ.

Thats 2500 even and very orky, playable army for ANY MEQ, there are 16 PKs in there, the wagons Raming the LRs with those rams can pop em, and then 16 rocketlaunchas and 6 twin linked rocket launchas.

And then a tau army with 9 braodside's and whatever else they want to toss in there.
