Oh it's really easy if you just want a quick gem. First put the main colour of the gem. Then drybrush black on the corner. Then take white and make a dot in the middle of where the black is and make a thin line in the other corner across from the black one.

Wow. Looking at those pictures I would've guessed that you had a much more complex scheme for them like GW describes in the book.
