Got to side with Sanctjud on this one. The rulebook does say, in the ordnance section, that you may not fire any other weapon when firing an ordance weapon.
Obviously this excludes Leman Rus tanks and superheavies.

At the very least there is a differing RAW/RAI with the CSM combi-bolter...
But seriously, who cares about the extra dakka...if one plays by that rule, the opponent can benefit equally...assuming something like this was brought up before the game.
Else...just drive 12". I think a rhino does so much more on the move than slowing down to shoot.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I mainly started using it for a rhino carryign my melta eqipped chosen squad. It outflanks on and can unleashe a load of bolter shots and more out the hatch on the way in. Hopefully whittling down any nearby units, then the chosen jump out and unload 4 melta shots into the nearest tank/nasty unit.

Well, to get maximum distance, you'd have to move 12" in and disembark to get the shots off with melta to get the extra penetration die.
Otherwise, moving on 6" is pretty limiting if you want to stay in the ride.
I don't think they have the time and life expectancy to 'play it safe'.

Depends on your opponent. The guy i usually play against likes to put his long range tanks in the back corners of the table. Making a 6" outflank move easy. I havn't used this against him yet but can't wait to see his face.

Much of the time you won't want to move 12". It's worth it frequently but not always. Shooting is a valid tactic too Especially for CSM sometimes, they have guns for a reason.
