Only the genetically modified bees that have been designed to sting readers of the Guardian, which is less than 20% of all genetically modified bees. You really don't have anything to complain about.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Even those sorts of bees can cause moral distress! Because the bees die when they sting you, so maybe I should stop reading the Guardian. But if I stop reading the Guardian I'll never be able to do any crosswords well! And nobody will tell me the appropriate level of outrage to have about GM bees!

And the other kind, well GM = bad, but saving bees = good. So much confusion! *Head explodes*

Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Bees disappearing is no laughing matter. Pollinating all those plants ourselves would be terribly time consuming.

Do left wing people have to hate GM now? Damnit, no one sent me that newsletter.

@ Orkeosaurus - Even the sight of Nicholas Cage being attacked by swarms of bees wouldn't make me watch that remake.

@ Da Boss - We have to be Intelligently Concerned. It's like Intelligent Design, but with intelligence.

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HE DID NOT JUST SAY THAT

I've not studied it, but I'm generally down with GM. we've been doing it for thousands of years anyway.
I'm more concerned about corporations with the rights to those GM crops forcing them on third-world countries without doing long-term research, and inadvertently causing greater desertification, famine and poverty.
Like Nestle but with cereals.

Same here, just like that little problem years ago about the so called "terminator" seeds that depleted the terrain and gave sterile crops to force farmers to buy fertilizer and new seeds every planting cycle.

Thank God that somebody saw the light and managed to put a moratorium in place against this type of GM plant. For us a failed harvest with this type of seed would be higher prices, in Africa millions dead.

About to eat your Avatar...

Here is a documentary for anyone who hasn't seen it, about Monsantos business practices. Not a particularly friendly company, to say the least.

There is another good documentary about Monsanto, but I can't remember where to find it.

Ah, here it is.
