If anyone has seen the new army lists that you could run with its ridiculous with the tervigon spam list where you could get upto 50 gaunts a turn extra which is not fun for any player I really prefered the old list playing against 3 carnifexs and 3 hive tyrants is alot of fun

@DC_Ravenor: this build won't do so well. It spams small units of KP's, and is primarily defensive in nature. No matter which way you cut it tervigons don't have any decent form of attack. You use that build and you spend a ton of points on MC's that only buff your other units (mainly gaunts), and every time one dies you potentially lose a LOT of gaunts.

I'm not sure if he's laughing at the lack of proper grammar in that sentence or the fact that you said your opponent could field 3 HQ's in a normal game.

I love the new fluff with the exceptional tyrants/HQ's being immortal- the only thing that really kept me from ever playing nids was the fact I couldn't really invest much character in my army- They are a whole bunch of bugs that simply walk themselves into a digestion pool when they are done gorging themselves.

Fluffwise, in the new codex, my Tyrant/Alpha Warrior/Trygon Prime is an ancient venerable abomination, that has fought countless battles, developing countless new strategies, and literally crafting its minions' to better serve it and the hive mind. They are ageless entities of mind that transcend the normal limits of mortality while not being daemons. Now, they are decidedly sentient, though they exist in a matter completely divorced from humanity.

Oh, and at people that think a 5 tervigon army is viable-

I bet your Hive Tyrants won't be so cocky when the Dark Templar kill them.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I like the codex and so far and have yet to run into problems that many complain about.

I think the that Cruddance having NOT played nids is what made the book so interesting and cool (to me).. Im always amazed that people want their armies to be exactly the same with every edition of a codex, doesnt that get boring?

Ive been playing blood angels since 2nd ed and I always love new codexs that offer widly new ways to play the army

Look at how boring the SM codex always seems to be.. Obviously its written by someone who plays marines a lot

The basic tactical squad hasnt changed.. ever, nor has the price nor the options except for traits in the 4th ed book.. Atleast the 5th ed SM book added NEW THINGS

I think thats why 5th ed is fun, every codex has new wacky stuff you never even HEARD about before in the fluff

People actually want to play the exact same army for all eternity and never want to change it? Wrong hobby imo

Much of the "new stuff" is actually stuff brought back from the old days of 1st and 2nd edition, but in a much more balanced form. For example, the new Space Marine Codex brought back conversion beamers, digital lasers, Stronos-pattern (las/plas) Razorbacks, and even the Thudd Gun, albeit in a modified form. There was some original stuff too, of course, but I really liked how the SM Codex mixed current stuff, old stuff, and new stuff.

I want someone who still has an old 2nd ed book to compare the Hormagaunt fluff section to the one in the new book. I know the talk of hormagaunts laying eggs came from that era, but the mention of four claws, when the figs clearly only have two, makes me wonder if it's a copy/paste.

*points, laughs* You can field up to three Tervigons as Troops, in addition to two as HQs.

I just checked the second edition Codex and I could see no mention of four claws. In fact, it only explicitly mentions four LIMBS (claws and legs),

Order of the Ebon Chalice, 2,624pts
Officio Assassinorum, 570pts
Hive Fleet Viracocha, 3,673pts
562pts

Without reading the whole thread: How can people say there's no more 'Nidzilla? You can field 9 'Fexes- Nine!
There's even a monstrous creature in the fast attack section. This seems like even more possible 'Nidzilla than in any prevous incarnation of the Codex.

its because those saying that are speaking only from a highly competitive viewpoint

Oh right. The competitive players. I must've forgotten about them.

Use tactics.
