I think you're better off just offering a prize of a fixed value gift certificate, rather than choosing specific models from Forge World at that price range.

Why? If I won a Valkerie or the Death Corps stuff, my first reaction would be to ask "Anybody want this?" and give it away to someone else, and I'm assuming that's not the reaction you're expecting.

Would love to do just that. Unfortunately, the system doesn't allow it. I need to place the order for prize support well in advance of the GT.

What's useable by the most people?

I guess something Imperial/Traitor would be a good choice, as the vast majority of armies will be SM or Chaos. Hell, even Orks could make use of an Imperial vehicle. If you make it Apoc-only then, technically, anyone can take it.

So how about a Macharius? £100, Apoc, and useable by any Imperial, Chaos or (at a push) ork force....?

Well, whoever wins can also sell their prize on ebay if they don't like it. I understand that Forgeworld stuff sells at over it's actual price on ebay due to the speedier mailing.

So with that in mind, new SM, ImpG and Ork stuff seems the most likely to appeal. Chaos folks can 'traitor' up some stuff if they win it.

Then again, Greater Daemons are a kind of 'wow' prize.

I'd say terrain is probably a bad idea. How many people actually have tables in their house? The majority of gamers that congregate in clubs probably play at a store or friend's house, limiting their ability to actually use something like terrain. I wouldn't want terrain, I'd want a model I can either use, display, or possibly make me want to start a new army.

With that being said, anything imperial would probably be a safe bet. Dreadnoughts, chapter specific doors and maybe SM or IG tanks would be a good bet.

I don't know if it would work for a prize but I would love to see a Tau walker. Especially if it was designed to do the one thing Tau cant really do, Survive close combat.

The greater good needs some moo.

Wrong thread. You want the "One wish for Forge World Model/Kit" one.

Who says it has to be for your own personal table? Most FLGSes I know would be ecstatic to know they've got someone willing to bring in FW scenery bits to use as objectives. But what you said is true...to a point.
Who says you can't use the terrain you score from Mik's tournament as part of a display?
For that matter, who says that Dreadnoughts or Chapter specific doors or SM/IG tanks(of which, I might add...hardly any are 'complete' kits or things that are in the Codexes as they stand, but again fall into the category of "things that are cool") are a good idea? I know, personally, that if I were to enter and win and get saddled with some Chapter specific bits that I can't use?

Well, I'd probably sell the bits on the spot to someone else.

But the biggest thing to realize is this:
Forge World has so many ridiculously nice kits that asking for a cross section from here or even from his tournament players would give such a ridiculously broad series of answers that terrain or things that have the Rule of Cool factor going for them is a good way to go so that the players can have characterful objective pieces later on.

Hell, it's why I actually own the Cadian Command Squad. The "General" model from there, along with the Scanner? Amazing objective pieces. Add in a flashy paint job on the General, and all of a sudden...you've gone from a Senior Officer...to a member of the Imperial High Command whose transport was shot down!

I don't know about anyone else here, but most Forge World terrain peices are very large, or fiddly and breakable. It's already enough of a chore bringing a 2000pt army + some sideboards back and forth to the LGS all the time. Who wants to also manage transporting a peice of nice, breakable terrain? And I'm sorry, my nice forgeworld terrain piece isn't going to be staying somewhere that I'm not, overnight. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

And really, whats wrong with selling something that you won from a tournament?

Sticking with something Imperial gives you the greatest odds that it will be well received by whoever wins it.

Very few of the terrain pieces are fiddly/breakable actually. The most delicate one I can think of is the Necron Pylon.

Something relatively generic like the Command Dugout from the Taros terrain, or the landing pad from the Anphelion Project would be something that suits your categories of:
A)Not too large
B) Not fiddly or breakable.

I mean, are you really going to say that
is that specific? There's abandoned fortifications all over the 40k universe. Something as simple as that really wouldn't be a big deal.

But yeah. That's just my stance on it, and I can understand yours but tt just seems silly to me to rule out terrain because of not wanting to transport the terrain piece.

I fully agree , not to mention its also easier to sell Imperium kits IF in-case the winner isnt already an Imperium player.

Not to mention , unless a terrain is absolutely stunning , chances are it can be easily scratch built with existing model kits from other hobby companies for like
$10. I rather receive as a price , something thats impossible or very very hard for us ( price receivers ) to produce effectively.
