So, totally hypothetical discussion, but lets make believe you just went to a 2 day, 40k GT, and won a prize. It's forgeworld, and somewhere in the 100.00 to 200.00 price range. (60 to 120 english pounds.) Let's imagine our tourney was giving out prizes for thinks like overall, best general, and painting, with 1st 2nd and 3rd getting prizes. What would you like it to be? Multiple answers appreciated, and at different ends of the price spectrum. Also could be multiple items for one prize, like all the bitz for a Red Scorpian army, etc. 1st overall would be a bit larger of course, um..hypothetically.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I'd say, quite frankly, it depends on my army.

If I were to win using my Guard army? I'd love to get something like I dunno...maybe a pair of Hydra emplacements? Or maybe something else terrain related like that?
But that might just be me.

Why so low price range?
I would love to have the Ork Mega Deff Dread model.
Or some of the Bigger vehicles. They are so super-cool

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!

Probably because of the fact that you'd have a limited prize budget to work with and you'd have to pay for all 3 people's prizes?

Well basically........

My Marines if they were giving out the Red Scorpion bits that have those sweet helmets id eat them up (Hobby Wise) Or Dreadnought the Raven Guard one with arms.
My Guard Cadian command squad or Veteran upgrades with shotguns.
Daemon Army probs Bloodthirster...

Warhammer range is rather limited so my Skaven would sit there lonely and unloved.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

It would probably be plenty of terrain (well, plenty when you are talking about FW prices ) just so that I could use it with all my armies. Probably the ruins, objectives and emplacements, given the choice.

Then I would probably want the model masterclass book.

Otherwise I would probably include some of the squad and special characters they do for IG.

Terrain please. I play Necrons and they are massively neglected by Forge World. (only the Pylon, seriously?)

Forgeworld books are probably a safe bet for prizes(Mainly for Imperium, Tau, Nids and Chaos though). And Aeronautica Imperialis and its tactica book, a free game system as a prize would be something I'd be excited about. There's also the weathering powder set, that any hobbyist could use. As far as terrain, the crashed/wrecked vehicles would be nice to make anyone's table look more lively.

My 2 cents.

Quite a few possibly. Minimum is first and second for Generalship, Overall, and Painting, and then Players choice. 7-10 prizes, figuring an average of 100 to 200 per prize, and more for first obviousl. Definitely something big for first. So keep ideas coming.

Is the tournament going to consist mostly of your store regulars, or out of staters?

If store regulars--maybe ask them if they'd rather get a prize -just- for themselves...or something that they could use as store terrain, with the winner getting the choice of using it in Apocalypse games?

Because I know, frankly, that I would love to win the chance of getting to use the Imperial Fortress as my defensive strongpoint in games

Probably mostly non-regulars. 80 slots for the main tournament, and I'd guess we get 20 or so from my stores, maybe another 20 from the local area. Already have folks registering from out of town. But the idea of scenery is a good one. As noted, you can use that for any game and army.

@mikhaila , are you getting discount from FW for the prices to be purchased?

If not , perhaps a in store gift certificate would make people more happy if they can choose things exactly they need.

Since as distributor you can get more GW product for less , more value saved = bigger price for winner.

Forge World does not give discounts.
An in-store gift certificate would help, but it's like school in July.

No class.(Thanka you!)

But Mik, maybe extending it not just to 40k but also Fantasy or Lord of the Rings would be an interesting move(give the players the choice of something for another system, if they play another one too).

Yeah, I think I'll second (third?) the idea of scenery. Honestly, if I won something that wasn't for my army(-ies), it'd just go up on eBay. Which is fine, just not as exciting as getting a gift you can use. Probably isn't a wargamer alive that couldn't use more scenery.

True that. I own enough scenery for about 75 tables, and I'd still take a hell of a lot more if it was Forgeworld. )

Current exchange is 61 GBP per $100 USD, so...

$200 USD ($122 GBP)

For a hair more, (130 ea):
Eldar Cobra type II
Eldar Scorpion type II

$100 USD ($61 GBP)
SM Chaplain Dreadnought (26 body)
+ 2 CCW arms (14 pair)
+ 2 AC & ML arms (14 pair)
+ base (5 ea)

For the extra $10 USD, the Mega Dredd works...
Ork Mega Dredd (35 body)
+ CCW arm (16 ea)
+ cannon arm (16 ea)

To save $10 USD, Imperial Vulture or Nurgle Plague Hulk are cool. (55 ea)

Dollar for dollar, choice of a Battleforce / Superheavy is probably better for the customer.

QFT, its woefully neglected although that can be said of the Necrons overall in 5th ed.
Theres some nice user made pieces in the gallery you might have seen, something along those lines would be great.

I'd go for a couple of Heirodules though if I won.

Terrain would be the easiest for prize support, as it is relatively army non-specific.

Another option might be to get a few different sheets of the brass etchings, that way the winner could pick which one he/she/it wanted.

Also, hard to go wrong with just dreadnought arms.
