SCreamerkiller in a pod is 220pts. Tyrannofex with Rupture Cannon is 265. Sometimes it is hard to find those 45 points. Also keep in mind the deployment options that open up with the Carnifex+Pod.
I'm not saying one is "better" than the other, just that they don't necessarily fill the exact same role so it can be a difficult comparison to really make.

Should probably add 2+ save, 6 wounds and screened from enemy special weapons to the equation. Against a good player, carnifex gets zero to one chances to make that charge. Most tyrannofexes will be firing for 6 turns, if you are targetting enemy lascannons as a priority.

100% agreed.

I'm not sure why more people aren't singing the praises of the Tyrannofex. It's a definite standout unit and one of the stronger options in the new Tyranid Codex. Strength 10 weapons are rare enough, much less on such an incredibly resilent platform as the TFex.

I'm going to go with the twin-linked devourers and heavy venom cannon, with adrenal glands. Even with all that shooting goodness they're still S9 monstrous creatures when they attack. Throw a zoanthrope behind them for synapse and a venomthrope for a 5+ invul save and they should be the scariest thing on the battlefield. However, I agree that the Tyrannofex is damned scary, having experienced one destroying two of my Vindicators in as many turns.

I'm gonna throw it out there. I had experiences with the Fex today (I was playing SW vs. Nids) and I must say.. the Dakkafex with Regen is a real piece of work.
3 of them can soak up a lot of fire.. not to mention put out 36 S6 shots with re-rolls to hit every shooting phase. And to make matters worse.. with a HT or Swarmlord nearby, the Fexes have 15 S9 attacks on the counter-charge with re-rolls in combat.
If you're not running a HT or Lord, I would run Screamer-Killers with dual STs instead. That way, you can always get the re-rolls to hit in combat.

I really like my Screamer Killer. (maybe nostalgia though...)
I think the big gun fexes are probably too steep, at least with the Sceamer Killer the Bio Plasma hits really hard, and the twin ScyTals help with it's low WS.
