I like to go on the internet and start a flame war about how horrible the codex is compared to the previous edition, or how broken it is, depending on how I feel that day. Sometimes I do both.

I always flip straight to vehicles and wargear; I'm a sucker for shiny gubbinz and there's rarely anything new for me in the background section.

Start at the beginning. I'm going to read through the whole thing several times as I look up stats, look at paint schemes, then slowly try and grasp all the fluff. Why not take it in the order presented?

Look at the pics first, then the other stuff in order. Pics are the most important part for me in the Army book/codex, the other stuff is technical for gameplay or fluff (which I'm not too interested in anymore).

Read the name of the writer, then break down crying.

I flick through, look at anything that looks interesting, then read it cover to cover

i generally go to the armylist section, make a brilliant armylist, and then wonder how i'm goin to afford it


Then i usually break it....

Gotta love the piccies and see what is god and richous

My order of dealing with a new codex:

Quick flip through looking at artwork.
Studying painting section to look at the shiny new models
Read Unit descriptions, and flip to back to look at points cost while doing so.

Then I retire to the 'reading room' to read the fluff and bounce around looking at everything again a few times/write up a quick concept list.

I always look in the army list.

Try to steal terrain ideas from all the sweet setups.

Those pretty pictures get me, everytime....

First thing I do? I smell the book. I love the smell of new books and new games and so ^^

Open up the book, read 'why collect this army section', debate wether or not this was a good purchase, decide it wasn't and then facepalm due to the fact that i could have bought some more guardsmen instead of waisting my money on a crappy tyranid codex that later i realise that it isnt that bad of a codex and then want to start playing nids again and remember the good old macragge days, but then remember my duty to the emperor and read a passage from the novel, 'fifteen hours' and return to playing IG and Eldar again.

I put read the background, which I do. However, my main concern is always the independent characters. I love reading about them first and foremost.

I start at the begining and read to the end.

Go through the units first.

I look at the pictures in the back to get a visual overview of some of the units available to that army and get an idea of the look and feel of the army. Then I start reading about the individual units.

Then the army list.

I like the awesome pictures and the amazing paintjobs that 'eavy metal does

I read form start too finish

I quickly thumb through the pics, then I start at the beginning

I nip off to the pictures section, then after that i read all the fluff. once i'm ready to settle in on army choices i'm poring over the statlines and points!

I look at the nice full page bios of all the different troops.

I read the units stats/rules/weapons, then look at points cost, then fluff outside of unit entries.

Read that bad boy cover to cover in the first night. skim through stats, warger, and special rules and fight the aweful urge to go drop a paycheck on a new army. ( I usually fail to some extent.)
