I tend to flip through the army lists first and then look at specific wargear as it relates to the units.

Start at page 1 and go on usually. Prefer the background stuff before the new rules have me holding my head in my hands especially with 40k nowadays it seems.

I, for some reason start from the end then kind of flip through to the front so I can get an idea about everything. Then I read it all from front to back.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

I always start at the beginning and read my way through it. Background & lore are the most important things for me with 40k these days and heavily influence how I collect & paint my armies.

I check the list 1st and mke sure my current armies compatable, i then read the induvidual units and stuff, then any other rules. I only read the fluff if i'm really really bored as it's all just filler to justify having a 105 page rule book instead of a 40 page book and charging less for it.

Oh man, the first monster I see I'm going to sneak up behind him, whip out my wand, and shoot my magic all over his ass.

Lol. I've done that with all gaming books for as long as I've bought them. Knew I couldn't be the only one. Ha!

I voted unit profiles. I generally read that first, then the wargear section, then the army list, reserving the general fluff part for potty time (just being honest). New codices always spend some time on the "golden throne" for a while.
