well, in my templar army ALL of my marines have helmets exept Helbrecht, who will be getting a head transplant soon to put a helmet on him. It makes zero sense not to have ur helmet on..not just for armor either..i mean , your communications, auto senses, gun aim assist and life support all require your helmet being on to function. I can see on table top its useful to differentiate sgts etc. but for me Ill sacrifice that bit of idividuality for a touch of realism.

right,wrong,...im the guy with the bolter

I always try to model my marines wearing helmets, all my captains wear them to set an example! Whenever I play a game it is always the people WITHOUT helmets who get removed first "because he was not wearing his helmet and got hit in the face by a missile". Whats the point in having some of the best armour in the galaxy when you can be killed by a single bolt to the head?

Zweischneid wrote:No way man. A Space Marine in itself is scary. But a Marine WITHOUT helmet wears at least 3-times as much plot-armour as a Marine with helmet. And heaven forbid if the Marine would also happen to have an intimidating looking, vertical scar. Then you're surly boned. Those guys are the worst. Not a chance I'd say.

I'll be honest, I only ever said I hated marines sans helmets because i couldn't paint flesh to save my life for my first few years of 40k but as soon as I got it right(ish) I stopped giving a damn
My girlfriend bought me wolves for christmas, to hell with helmets!!

To parrot what others have said, why the hell would one go into battle w/o full protection? All my marines get helmets if at all possible. I've cut off or otherwise removed heads in order to put a proper helmet on a model. (Also it helps that I really don't like painting faces. )

Well, maybe that's exactly why space marines have helmets. God doesn't like to model their faces

No, they just get sore throats from screaming all the time, in a helmet no-one can hear you talk normally

Alright guys, try this one. Next SM squad you make, pick one guy and have him not waering pants. Just put some haggard fantasy legs with a loin cloth. Same type of thing. He's just "post-battle" and celebrating. I mean, thats how I party. *high-five*

I must do this now. Although with SW I'm not sure anyone would really notice the difference.

Also helmets aren't manly.

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.

I play Space Wolves and many of my guys do not wear helmets because their faces are too awesome to ignore! Plus most aren't bald like most marines.

I am seriously considering (re-)modeling Death Company as entirely screaming baldies.
