Pay off all the cards, splurge on consumables, take a big road trip with the family, give the wife a nice shopping spree, and buy the rest of my Daemons army (would be a much larger purchase if there were certain other plastics released).

I feel compelled to point that, barring any exceptional circumstances (first time homebuyer credit, for example) - you really shouldn't be getting a large tax return. Point in fact, if you're getting a multi-thousand-dollar tax return every year, year after year, you're doing it wrong. Adjust your numbers and deductions and start putting that money into a money market fund, an high interest savings account, or some other vehicle where it's working for you, rather then giving the government a giant, tax free loan. Just my 2 cents.

This time next year, I should be able to join in on such Tax Return Based Spending, as it's not long until I get my Taxi Badge, and become self employed.
Also, anyone who has to file their own Tax Returns in the UK, I can reccomend my rather nifty HSBC Business Account. Pay in, and around 25% of it goes into a 'pocket account' to build up your Tax fund (25% being about right for your Taxation amount on earnings). Then, you need not worry about 'crap. I need £2k' next January! Plus, us self employed types get so many Tax Breaks and Write-Offs, you should be left with a juicy lump sum. Which I intend fully to use on a trip to Amsterdam, or perhaps a tour of Europe if I don't take anyone with me.

Not strictly a tax return buy, but my wife gets out of school in two months and if I can complete my IG force (50 figures, and 5 tanks left) I'm treating myself to a Shadowsword and a Vakyrie.
