Which has very little to do with anything seeing as though I've been playing 40K since the dying days of RT and have always used a large amount of terrain with each edition of the game.

Have to agree with DashOfPepper... as a guard player who wants to boom you from the other side of the field with LRBTs etc... terrain is not advantageous to all armies. You might not like "Setting up and shooting" but from what I hear, thats all tau do. Thats certainly one thing guard is good at.

Just something to keep in mind.

It's not meant to be. Shooty armies are supposed to be disadvantaged by LOS-blocking terrain. It's a part of what keeps the game balanced. Ish.

As if ranged armies need any more hamstringing?

Terrain slowing the assaulter down an extra turn is awful helpful to shooty armies, especially if they're capable of maneuvering at all (like the Tau very much are) .

Yup, bear in mind that not all of the terrain is supposed to block LOS completely. It's supposed to be a mix. So some of that terrain (specifically anything that slows down the enemy without significantly hampering LOS) is going to work in the shooty army's favour.

The rest is there to give the assault-heavy army a chance to get across the board, and to force players to use a little thought on how they set up.

It IS a bit much, maybe remove the ruin-looking thing with the two "walls", and possibly a set of trees.
