One thing I noticed about Onslaught is that the Tervigon can't run after it uses it because it's a psychic shooting power, so your Carnifexes will move 6" away from your Tervigon each round. The Carnifexes will likely be out of range at the start of turn 3. This might also cause an instinctive behavior test unless you use Dominion.

End Turn 1:
T -- 6" -- C

End Turn 2:
T -- 12" -- C

I used 2 Carnifexes today and I was satisfied with the result. Enough so that I plan to run 2 squads of 2 next week. They cut through tanks like butter.

The Carnifexes were equipped with Twin-linked devourers and bio-plasma. No kills were scored with the ranged weapons, but there were a few immobilize/shaken/stunned results which prevented lesser troops from getting flamed and led to easy kills (automatic hits FTW) in the following turn.

Synapse was not an issue, because the Carnifexes got blocked in with all the troops around them.

One question that remains however is why use Carnifexes at all when 2 Trygons in the rear might achieve the same result?

Also I found myself wanting 6 hive guard instead of the venomthropes, but in the end the carnifexes made up for what the extra hive guard might have done. Will it be like this next week? I hope!
