@Cyporiean - That pretty much sums up why I hate anime - the schoolgirl fixation. Borderline paedophilic imagery is not my bag, nor my culture's bag.

Hardly unique to Japan or ubiquidous in anime.

@K_K - Last time I checked, Britney Spears was American, whereas I'm not - hence not my culture. Plus, wasn't Britney above the legal age of consent in that video? Animated depictions of schoolgirls making out, and schoolgirl underwear for sale in vending machines is not on the same level of creepy as Britney Spears, an adult dressed in a stylised schoolgirl outfit.

In many countries the age of consent is 16. Parts of the US have this. England used to have it. Canada has it. Not going to list off everywhere else that does.

So are we to judge the UK by Page 3 girls?

If you're looking a country's pr0n none of are going to come out looking too well. I'm just saying school girl facination is not unique to Japan and there's a lot more to anime than that.

Can I please request we stay on topic? When I posted this thing asking for help creating a funny Inquisitor I had no idea that it would all but turn into a bad Jerry Seinfeld skit ("And what's the deal with anime?") within 24 hours. Again, thanks to everyone who's been helpful in trying to piece this idea together.

Anyway, here's the 'Ultra Inquisitor' sketch, I drew it quickly in my own style (since I suck at manga style) and slick, meaning all the pouches, weapons and massive Inquisitorial =I= things that will go on the model were left off. Though she'll probably end up holding the giant =I= for use as a melee weapon.

I think I'll use the legs off warrior woman with a green stuffed smooth skirt and long coat tales, the upper body from an imperial guard command sprue and the head of an SOB, or maybe order a female head sprue from micro art studio. Does anyone know how well their heads work with 40K? I'll also have to green stuff on some big captain crunch style shoulder boards to the coat or maybe try to find a way to give it a bigger Creed style collar. (OK, maybe not that big.) To bulk it up I may just have to add a green stuff layer over the existing model to make it look bigger on the figure, something I've never done before.

Good point, that beats trying to remove the head from a metal model, I may actually have one of those heads in my bitz box.

Why not do a while shirt instead of blue? That fits the Haruhi costume more.

I thought about that costume but I've never seen any model that looks remotely like that. That'd be a scratch build.

As for why blue instead of white, I really hate trying to paint white. Though an Inquisitor in white would be kind of creepy, like she's a friendly inquisitor or something. I've always thought of them in black or dark colors (that coat I'd paint regal blue over black primer).

The Anime that are now broadcasting on American television in my opinion are rather lackluster and disappointing. I have one thing that will was damn good about Anime back then in the 90s: Toonami. Nostalgia hits hard doesn't it?

Anyways, I think Yuki should a psycher variation of sorts, would be funny to find out the fluff what happens to her in case perils of the warp occurs.

Okay, someone made a thread in off-topic to discuss anime.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/278006.page

Ontopic: You're doing a Haruhi inquisitor, so she's not supposed to conform to standards. A friendly inquisitor is just what you want. Before your opponent knows it, she'll be blackmailing that chapter master into giving her an orbital bombardment, and a tutorial on how to use it.

Good point, and thanks for assist on the new thread. After I saw Tentacle Grape I was worried the mods would lock the thread.

Now how to make a smiling inquisitor...
That would be a great for the psychological edge it brings to the game all by itself.
"Is your Inquisitor... smiling?"
"Actually she's mid-giggle."

Mid-giggle? You'll need to do some serious sculpting work to pull that off.

Mostly, on my phone.

Check out http://web.sodapopminiatures.com/ for heavily anime inspired minis. Hasslefree, as iirc has been mentioned, has some good stuff. Could try infinity, too, maybe, or triad dragonflies from urban war. Hope that's useful!

If you want an honest opinion on retinue:

Kyon: kyon is obviously the passive observer, being thrown into whatever hell haruhi concocts- so, an unwitting guardsman is perfect.

Haruhi- either an inquisitor or commissar would work. the inquisitor as she has banded the individuals together, or a commissar because she is always looking for glory, attention, etc. (think ciaphas cain, except she actually strives for the fame)

Itsuki- sanctioned psyker for obvious reasons.

Nagato- techpriest

Mikuru- cleric? a callidus assassin would also be funny considering haruhi forces her to wear different outfits (naturally different faces wouldnt be too much of a stretch then)

I've ordered the bitz for the Ultra Inquisitor-
I'm using a blood bowl human cheerleader as the base body, with a big coat modelled over it, and I ordered the Cadian Command HQ for the arms. They're probably a bit big for the blood bowl model but I don't think it'll be noticeable once the coat is thrown on over the torso. Once I get the SOB head shipped out here it should be ready to be Frankenstein'd.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Returning to the OT topic of the content of Japanese manga, the reason why there are a lot of schoolgirls in them is because they are high school romance comedies written for high school students.

If you survey the entire spectrum of manga, you will find comedies about office life, dramas about management, history, religion and all kinds of topics. And real porn too.

It is not all moe-blob schoolgirls. It’s just that the moe manga/anime are over-represented in US publishing, probably because the majority of manga/anime fans are teenage boys.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ah yes, while that may be true that the majority of anime fans are of the male variety, they have a tendency to watch anime more tailored at their gender: that is to say, giant robot anime, and things like hellsing and berserk with their intense violence. Even shows like One Piece, which lack in artistic quality, are insanely popular amongst the male crowd.
By contrast, female anime fans have a tendency to watch the romantic comedies like Ouran Host Club, Fushigi Yugi, etc. (and obviously there are exceptions to these rules- im just speaking from personal experience as I have talked to hundreds of anime and manga fans while touring the east coast convention circuit)

Right...back on topic! When can we expect an update with Wip photos?

Well I ordered the parts today so hopefully in two weeks I can do as suggested and make a P&M blog. I'm looking for a lone SOB immolator head now, since checking I've found I've used up all mine.

If push comes to shove I can just take the head from one of my SOBs, or appropriate it from my Immolator gunner.

The parts came in, mostly! I still need to get a head from the SOB Immolator operator but the body and arms came in. The blood bowl cheer leader looks to have slightly shorter arms than a cadian but I think they can be safely shortened for her. The arms I'll use are the chainsword arm and the pointing arm from the Cadian command sprue.

Right now I'm letting it all soak in warm water and soap before fiddling with anything.

By the way, how could I get this thing moved to the P&M Blog section?
