In general, the ones I don't mind are the ones that pretty much just move in place, but remain the same colors. It's the ones that flash screens and change that I find to be too distracting. Mean Green Stompa's is probably right on the edge, but I think his is the first animated one I remember, and for some reason doesn't bother me.

correction, i sulk in a corner and fire all my railguns to kill everything, you can never be tau without railguns, the strongest weapons in the game, although they are a bit scarse when your from an exiled cadre.

You could, but it would probably end up being a massive file size

Hmm. Never really thought that my avatar might be annoying to anyone. Hope that's not the case.

I make my own animated avatars and emorkticons and such. Use Photoshop to make the individual frames, then convert it into a gif movie in ImageReady where I can control the frame times.

I just saved this recent one as a gif and made sure it was a small enough file size and it worked a charm.

Darth Bob's is borderline psychotic and probably means... something...

He really should 'tone it down'.

Or, at the least, realize that it has long since reached its shelf date and move on?

I believe the word 'subtle' has been thrown around a bit in this thread.

Anywho...

Opinions will vary!

At least it gives me a...presence on the forums . If the modquisition really wants me to change it I will...though I am a big fan of this avatar...so my question to you is was that a demand (of your modly powers) or a request?

P.S. First part of that post /sigged.

I would never abuse my 'power' as a Mod in such a fashion!

Do NOT consider that an 'official' request in any way whatsoever!

Alright...still...let me ask everyone now. Is my avatar that much of a distraction? Would the community like me to change it? I understand it's...scary...but I've used it for a while and really wanted something unique, althought I suppose I could change it if you want.

I will not submit to plain ol' picture avatars though!

In honor of this thred, I still...well...can't get a .gif for an avatar. Dakka be damned!!!
@Darth Bob: I actually like it, don't change yet.
@Gwar: I actually find your avatar to be both scary and sweet at the same time.
Also, I personally never found an avatar too annoying. I mean, I might look for a few seconds, then I just scroll on.

Adblock on dakka ends up blocking several of the buttons, like Post, Quote, etc. So I have to disable it on dakka. But when it's disabled, I can't block images. I've ended up putting a lot of users on ignore to solve the problem.

I've never found yours distracting, as it stays in one place and doesn't flash around. Somewhat disturbing yes, just not distracting.

I've had no problem with Adblock blocking out anything other than Ads and the specific individual's avatars that I want on Dakka.
