It IS a small area, but having your main assault transport immobilized on your side of the battlefield is a pretty crippling thing to happen regardless of varient.
I highly disagree with the redeemer as defensive, I see it as the MOST assaulty, Crusaders tempt you to only move 6" so you can unleash full dakka, but Redeemers should always be moving the full 12" forward to get into the best position, a single well placed Flamestorm shot is devastating.
