Like I said, we have corrupt politicians and such, the occasional scandal (local one with expenes blew up last week, lots of people quit). But they just don't compare to the disaster that exists in America today. I can't remember the last time I heard a debate where somebody didn't bring up their children, Stalinist communism, nazis ETC ETC
The level of debate is so low that you may as well be deciding everything with an arm wrestling competition. I'm not saying any one side is wholly responsible, actually, I think a culture that no longer values reasoned debate and a willingness to back down when proven wrong is the real culprit. And how are you going to fix it?
Well, we would all love to help, but only the american people get to vote, so all we can really do is watch and cry.

In a Society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behaviour is public opinion. But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by "thou shalt not", the individual can practise a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

Political mess. The country itself is alright, and has more or less the same problems as the rest of us, well outside of health, but that's a reflection on the political mess. The political problems are much bigger, the amount of money in there, the influence of lobbyists...

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Your politics are more fun than our politics. You don't know about our senators because none of them come out in the public media and tearfully announce their addiction to Facebook games.
Although ours do occasionally visit strip clubs and forget what happened next.

There are? I didn't know Quebec had seceded (again).
Central Americans generally consider themselves Central Americans, not North Americans.
