--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

Only because British can't aim worth gak so they resort to stabbing one another, that is why British citizens aren't allowed to own firearms. Too much friendly fire.

Yeah Alba, I posted that. We may shoot one another a lot but we can at least say we hit what we intended to hit. Drive-bys by thugs being the exception as those idiots can't hit the broadside of a barn so compensate with mac10's.

I bet if someone did a statistical analysis, they would find that if a posters post count was under 100 they would be more likely to post something in OT about creationism or religion as being "moronic" or some other such insult. Never mind we have allready discussed the peanut butter nutter, and the bannana shenagin.
I was going to stay out of this, but as the number of references to the engineer being a moron and goon references increased, my eyes started to bleed.
The fact is, the point he was making is sound, and that point is that you can't get life.... without life. I.E. Life begets life.
As far as abiogenesis goes, it is a fundamental building block of macro evolution, it is where macro evolution starts, so it is quite a bit disengenuious to try and sperate the two, since they are inexctricably linked together as a materialistic origin belief system.
Also stuff generated in a lab doesn't "prove" anything, just like the miller experiments done in the 50's, which attempted to create amino acids in a jar. The thing that they don't tell you is that he did those experiments without oxygen, which has always been in abundance. Rocks supposedly 300 million years old contain oxides. Miller had to use a hydrogen rich atmosphere because an oxygen rich atmosphere won't work.
I would need to see more from that wired article to see what exactly was used and how exactly they created that RNA strand before I would comment positively on it.
It may very well be that they cooked the experiment like miller did in the 50's.

Mind you, I'm sober right now, and simply cannot find my bottle of 80/- I had squirreled away from last year. If some bogeybum has guzzled it, there's going to be trouble.

Simply containing oxides does not indicate that oxygen was in abundance.

And oxygen present or not, it would seem to prove amino acids can be made from stuff, no? Therefore as long as atmospheric conditions are appropriate, life and just literally pop up from nowhere.

Life is fundamentally chemical, if the chemicals are there, life can form. Life can come from non-life, just as consciousness can come from the non-conscious.

I've been non-conscious from alcohol quite a bit and you are right. Most times I am consciously aware of what's going on around me even if I'm not fully aware due to alcohol haze.

You said "Therefore as long as atmospheric conditions are appropriate, life and just literally pop up from nowhere."
That is a huge assumption, and once again YOU have demonstrated your ignoarnce of what an assumption is. Someone doing something in a lab, doesn't = apropriate atmospheric conditions. It does however = appropriate lab conditions, which I might add have been "helped" along by Life.(I.E.scientists)
You said "just as consciousness can come from the non-conscious"= Psychobable
from wikipedia.
Psychobabble (a portmanteau of "psychology" or "psychoanalysis" and "babble") is a form of prose using jargon, buzzwords and highly esoteric language to give an impression of plausibility through mystification, misdirection, and obfuscation. The term implies that the speaker of psychobable lacks the experience and understanding necessary for proper use of a given psychological term
You are a master of the art form of psychobable.

No I didn't. MDG did. Pay attention.

It does if the lab replicates the atmospheric conditions.
Moreover, if all the proper chemicals are present, then the word 'can' denotes nothing more than basic possibility. Basically, that an event might occur given additional, or no additional stimuli.

Nope. Read more philosophy. There are many journal articles, and books, written about this topic.

I don't lack the relevant experience, nor am I obfuscating anything. I'm actually doing the opposite of that; illustrating. You believe that I'm obfuscating because you believe that the principle of non-contradiction applies to physical objects, it doesn't. Any given thing can be more than one thing to the human species, as it is composed of individuals.
To tie in another thread: If I use words that you do not know, then the deficiency is yours, not mine.
