I don't understand something here. Are people power gamers because they don't want to loose? I havn't read one thread here, that people play for fun. Is the only reason for playing is for fun?

It is one reason to stop playing Deathwing if you loose all the time and that causes you not to have fun. But I havn't read that. All I read is Deathwing and DA suck now so don't start them.

I find it funny how on B&C lots of people still play Deathwing and have success with them. Mind you alot of them also loose but still keep playing Deathwing and DA because it is still fun.

So do you want to play to win or to play for fun? Yes DA can be a bit harder to play because of codex creep. If all you want to do is win, then DA is not for you.

From what I have read, most people play DA because of fluff and the looks of DA, and having fun, not for winning. If winning is that much important for you, you can always do what someone else said, you can paint your minis DA colour and use the Ultramarine codex.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

spot on!

As you can see in my sig, I have a large DA force. I own an entire and complete battle company (3rd), 4 Squadrons of Ravenwing, and 6 squads of Deathwing. All of which have a command squad and all the special characters including all the banners (I only own 1 sacred banner though, I mean to change this though).

I play for the fun. And surprisingly, with any combo I have won quite a few games with it too. I would say it is a solid 50/50 win/lose. But, I have great fun with it, and I love the DAs! I even bought the Fortress of Redemption for them and am only the tower away from finishing it.

I say go for it. They are fun. I believe any army that provides a bit of a challenge are always a blast. And you will sure get kudos for taking an army that many many people see as a handicap.

But, I also have lots of fall back armies to play as well. Like if I feel I really need to win, I pull out the Dark Eldar and let the punishment begin.

DA 3rd Co. w/duelwing 6000+ pts
Mostly tanks 2000+ pts
Ultras 3rd Co and 1st Co. 7000+ pts
Harald Deathwolf's Co. 7000+ pts
4000+ pts (Daemonhunters)
Kabal of the Hydra 5000+ pts
Skullrippa'z Freebootaz 6000+ pts
Plague Marine Force 2000+ pts
and not finished until I own some of every army

Does anyone here want to get rid of their Deathwing army?

I found an electronic copy of the DA codex, and I must say, DA deserve waaaay better. Such a beautiful and ornate army stuck with the blandest bland-dex out there. I mean, SW have people riding on wolves, a 10K y.o. Dread, a guy who throws a teleporting hammer into your face...

Back on topic! I decided that Deathwing is probably the way to go rather than Wolfpaw. Logan costs way too much for my liking. Instead, I can field both Belial and a terminator librarian (guilty pleasure since I'm a BT player ) for the same cost.

I don't know which of the 2 choices is the best, but I came to the conclusion that I don't really care if they're not a competitive army. What I'm after is an aesthetically pleasing army. I probably won't paint them as Deathwing though.

Thanks for all the feed back guys..Now I have one more question. How much is this gonna hurt my pocket? Atm I only have 15-16 models in Terminator armor and I know I'll need more.

How big do you want it to be? 1500, 1750, 2000, 2500? Are you going all termie, Land Raiders and tanks, Dreadnoughts? I'm thinking of making a 1500 pts army. Belial, librarian, 5 squads of terminators. That's 25 soldiers + 2 leaders. You could get away with less than $100, but you could pay considerably more depending on what you want to do.

Well if money is an issue, get one or two Blackreach box sets. This way you get yourself a bit of troops, termies, and Dreadnaughts never hurt. You can always sell your Orks go halves with someone if you just want the SM. Start there, and work out slowlhy in what else you want.

1500 pt all termi foot slogging is what I want for now. I realize that I'll need LRs eventually, and I'm hopefully getting my first soon.

I also don't have enogh for an AoBR box which is a major problem or I would be buying another one.

I Have 6.5k pts worth a DA's that I play as C:SM most of the time, but I love playing straight DW or even Dual-Wing. Straight deathwing is a very masochistic thing, but if you are playing against a shotty army, say IG, then it can be insanely fun. You have to max out your AC's and and Cyclones, but it works.

As far as Dual-wing goes, in a 3k point game, it can get nasty when used correctly (Per my experiences in Tourneys and my FLGS).

WTB new DA's Codex!

Also, being able to mix and mash CC and Long Range is fun. LC sgt, a AC Termie, and Chain Fist termie, a TH/SS termie, and a regular wargear term is my favourite combo.

New people @ my FLGS always freak out when they see Assault terms with an AC/HF.

Unless they update the Codex here soon, I have found Terminator Librarians to be useless. Force Barrier is amazingly awesome! and Hellfire can hurt like a SoB, but more than likely you won't get a chance to use his Force Weapon because or ID hits or PW hits needed an invul save with Force Barrier.

I will say that, one of the most satisfying things I have ever done was give the DA librarian a jump pack, throw him in an Assault squad, jump up and roll a 12 on 2D6 for the Hellfires strength, and then roll a 1 for AP, and ended up eating two LR's. Funniest thing I've ever seen!

I also think that Azrael with a Command Squad and Chapter Banner (+1 attack Characteristic) + a Librarian (Ezekiel or regular depending on points) is one of the NASTIEST Deathstars out their. They never fail me =D!
