In all honesty, I have to say it is a bit annoying how much chaff Captain Solon has posted, but nobody has to click on it and read it. As for statements to his "ignorance" of 40k fluff history, he has to learn somewhere!

2nd Edition was ridiculously different to 3rd Edition, so much so that they aren't even the same game. If you want to talk about rules conflicts, compared to 2nd Edition, the new Space Wolves codex would have been one of the most comprehensible things ever written! So considering that Lasgun and Autoguns were pretty much the same weapon compared to the vast differences between other weapons, yeah, it is fine to say they were essentially the same in 2nd.

The Imperial Guard don't really need a new weapons system, or at least one as over the top as is being proposed. While Lasguns aren't as nice to use as say Pulse Rifles, there is certainly something to say about the quality of quantity.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I may be new. But the purpose of a forum is to share ideas. Maybe he has a lot of ideas. Maybe he is new. Maybe he doesn't know his everchanging 40k fluff history. Does it really matter? Will it matter in ten years? If his posts annoy you, why comment? Afterall, you are just flooding this thread with useless off topic information. Maybe, some of us would like to have a productive discourse over the subject of Auto-guns. Everything you said also could have been doen in a polite way which may have garnered you better results. Good problem resolution skills will go far in life and improve your 40K experience, learn some.

@ Captain Solon: Yeah, Auto-guns were in the game before. I understand the direction of your logic; S7 to S5 when Heavy Bolters do S5 and Bolters do S4. So S7 to S5 would be conservative by comparison. The weapons are still in the fluff, I would recommend reading the Ravenor novels for a glimpse. Also, I do believe that fluffwise Auto-guns have a higher rate of fire than Las-weapons, but not the accuracy/range. I would go with S3 AP5 18" Assault3, if I were to write them up. think of an UZI or an MP-5 only chambered in .45 caliber.

Cheers!

No doubt he's learnt by now that certain Dakka posters have a shaky grasp of how to behave in a polite manner.

CitizenPrime wrote:Dear MODs,

I'm still learning, as you all know, so please continue to bear with me, but wouldn't you call Alexwars1 comments,"trolling?" I think that is where people add comments that are in no way contributing to the discussion and could be "fishing" for confrontation?

Just wondering.

Thanks.

As a heads-up for anyone wondering... the mods don't see every thread. If you see a post that you consider to be trolling, use the Mod Alert button at the top right of the post rather than responding in the thread.
