Until the DA get a new codex that is priced correctly and allows the same type of versatility with their terminator weaponry that CSMs and SWs get then yes, Loganwing > Deathwing

I've never seen this mentioned online, and I'm rather curious: in all the chat about taking terminators as troops, has no-one ever considered taking an army based around normal wolf guard? They're 18 points for marines with 2 base attacks. They get total access to combat weapons and to cheap combi-weapons. Wouldn't an army of wolfguard units in rhinos, rather than grey hunters, be pretty good? You could take 1 power fist, one frost blade and say 6 combi-weapons per squad, for instance. Add some long fangs, who can benefit from logan's relentless, and it looks pretty good. Am I missing something?

I think it's because 3 extra points doesn't justify the extra attack a Wolf guard gets. Wolf guards run as a squad would be like Sternguard without the ammo option but with more CC options and massed combi. Of course, this would be a function of an elite unit, not a troop. Otherwise we would have 33pt wolf guards in TDA, and there's your Loganwing.
Wolfguards in PA + Logan sucks much more than Kantor and his scoring sternguard with regards to shooting. Regarding power weapons spam, one should know that 2 power weapons would be enough to win assaults, and 9-man Greyhunters with MotW and a PW + Wolf leader with PW should be more efficient combat-wise and points wise, they shoot better too.
Here's some of the numbers:
10 man Wolf guard with 2 Wolf Claws + Rhino = 245 points
9 man GH with MotW, PW + Wolf Guard Leader with WC + Rhino = 233 points

Loganwing is better because you don't have to put everyone in terminator armor to get the good weaponry that terminators have to offer. Then again, I guess its arguable that proper 'Loganwing' requires all the WG to be in termie armor -- but for the sake of discussion lets assume it just has to have some termies in every troop.
Now you are looking at a base unit that is quite an effective MSU shooting platform:
4 WG in power armor + 1 WG in terminator armor and Cyclone Missile -- 135
That's cheap as chips -- comparable to the old las/plas units but better since it can move and shoot, has more hth ability and is ld9 across the board.
You can throw on a chainfist and 1-2 combi-meltas and you have a well rounded unit for not many points at all.
5 of those (or 4 and maybe a 10 man beefier one to hand out WG to scouts or long fangs or to be a counter charge unit) backed up by a rune priest, long fangs and some hard charging thunder wolf cav or similar and you have a very potent shooting army (most of it moving and shooting) with plenty of CC ability. To me that army is head and shoulders better then DA deathwing because it can pack in way more shooting and CC for less and has better character support from the rune priest and logan.

Umm.... deathwing can only get regualar terminator equipment, so PF+ SB, 2xLC, THSS (the old crappy one, BTW) They also have the old CML rules.
Wolves can get whatever they want for their termis, combis, whatever. Sure, THSS costs more, but dont take it.

Pretty sure the Wolfwing is better if only because the codex is newer...
But the list isnt broken...I have seen it and its the equivalent of running 3 to 4 landraiders on a board...its scary coming at you...but their whole army can flop in one turn.

I find Loganwing objectionable on so many levels... but at least if you collect it by buying the actual models, you'll pay out the nose. My Space Wolf friend tells me that the SW Termie set does not even include the cyclone. And the regular termie set only includes one each.
