Last year I bought 12K points of marines and orks. This year I've already bought 2K of guard with lots of forgeworld bits.

I only started my IG army in July of 2009, and already I have spent close to $2000 on models (GW and Forge World). I think that number would be paired down a bit if I hadn't decided to run an OOP Guard army, but yeah, it is a bit sobering thinking about how quickly the total cost accumulated.

in the last 6 months:
$355 on my guard
$435 on the wife's Orks
and $75 + trades on my marines
before I got out of the game(4th edition) roughly $5,000 on marines, guard, and Tau

I actually have to agree with two posts: too much, and not enough.

When I look at everything I have, and think "Damn, I've spent a ton on all this...", it's quickly followed by "But I still need ___ and ___ to finish THIS list and..."

...sorry.

You brighten my life like a polystyrene hat, but it melts in the sun like a life without love, and I've waited for you so I'll keep holding on without you.

I am not shure what I spent on and off for the last 15 years. I basically got back about 5 years ago, just as a collector not a gamer so I don't have a real army as you guys would say.

So between 40K, Lord of the Rings, and Battle for Skull Pass is the only Fantasy thing I bought, I say about a $1000 Canadian. I jump between LotR and 40K and never finish anything. Now I am sticking to 40K, got a small army of DA, and working on Tyranids now, before I go back to LotR. I am including paint and brushes because I got all that stuff from a GW store or FLGS when it did exsist, but now is gone. I guess that is why I spend so little now, now store close by to home.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

The secret joke of Warhammer "40K" is that the date isn't arbitrary.

It was put in as a gotcha! for when you realize that it's gonna take about $40,000 {units of your local currency - GW's gonna get it - conversion rate be damned} and about 40,000 hours painting time to "get where you want to be" playing the game.

Seriously, I think I might be coming up on $1000 spent over 5 years on my Ultras, paints and supplies, terrain projects, and including the entire Black Library which I suffered through for "research".
