I'll be picking it up again, my buddy just got the expansions. Do you guys recommend playing through again first, or going right into the expansions?

Have you completed both playthroughs? Because it largely affects it. If you've done both I'd hop onto the expansions on PT 1 but if you've only done PT1 then do a bit of PT2 first to get back into it. You'll be surprised how fast the start of PT2 levels you up.

@Everyone: Ignore people who say moxxis underdome is bad, I've only done 2 of the starter domes by myself and I found it extremely good, being a level 60 berserker I found it difficultly challenging, and for me, that is rare. So I highly reccomend it, especially if you play with friends.

Moxxi's isn't bad per se, but it gets tedious at times.

Just got the Secret Armory and boy is it tough. The main game was never as challenging as this.

Wait till you hit lvl 60, then go back to moxxi's, insane.

Tx for all the info, guys. We've been doing Zombie Island on first playthrough at lvl 40, and it's been pretty easy... we're trying to do as much as possible on first playthrough, but I think we're pretty much ready to jump to second.

Fun and Fluff for the Win!

Got Borderlands a few weeks ago. Got my level 61 Siren now.

Looked up some killer elemental Skill Tree's online, and I'm completely focused on fire. I've got a SMG which does 180 damage, 4x flames and 12.5 fire rate. It's freaking amazing!

That with the fact I burst into flames every time I kill something and a huge fireball surrounds me when I go in and out of Phase walk, means I literally leave a flaming path behind me.

Still having trouble soloing old Mr Crowmax (spell?) I've teamed him alot but no amazing guns yet. I'm not going to use modded guns and just kill Crowmax into I get some super-awesome-weapons like my friend got from killing him several hundred times.

Most that level quickly these days are being taken through the Crawmerax fight in the Secret Armory expansion. You can got from level 1-61 in a very short time. Killing him (not even including his little buddies) will take a level 1 to level 15 in one kill. Why do they kill him over and over again? This is what his drops look like:

I'm still thinking of getting this game - do I have to get the expansions for the game to be any fun, and do I also have to get them in order to stand any chance of getting a game online with people?

Also, how much do they cost?

And how much fun is the game?

You can have fun w/o them, but odds are you'll want to get them at some point. Finding a game online shouldn't be to difficult, though certainly would be easier with some of the expansions. Knowing people that play it makes it even easier of course.

I believe they are $10 a piece.

How do you get above lvl 50 cap?
is that part of the expansions?
Only played 2person co-op due to lack of xbox live (cba to get it. Might do in the summer, when my exams are done)
Fun on your own but better with friends.

The Secret Armory expansion raised the level cap. I believe that the first two expansions were released on disk for those w/o internet.

Ahtman, that looks like two drops there. The game starts to lag after about five kills, people dissapear and weapons just sink through the ground.

I found going through the second armoury on PT2 is better then killing the big old Bug. If you sink through the floor at a certain point, you bypass the countdown.

Point 1: Never had that happen. We completely clear the whole area out each time though so that may be why.

Point 2: I have done that glitch, but never really gotten near the quality of drops yet down there.

There are lots of weapon crates In the Secret Amoury so you are going to get something decenet once in a while, my best so far in the armoury is a liquid Orion with 612 damage, 94 accuracy, 3x Shock and 2.7 fire rate.

It fires like a slow machine gun.

Been trying to solo Crommy without success for the last half an hour on my Hunter, I can do it on my Siren but too hard to get his back with a Hunter.

Purchased the game and some more MS points to get the DLC if I like the game. Will probably start playing tomorrow or something

Any tips for starting out?

I wasn't planning on being one

Probably just be a soldier/medic. Bit annoyed that the soldier class is also the chief medic (I always play as a medic in class based games - loved healing people over and over in CoD 3 when they were sat in front of an MG nest and got instantly killed again when I revived them ).

Well the soldier is by far the best support class, he just stands at the back and gives away health and ammo, I can boost you up if you want, I'm a 60 Berserker and pretty bored witht the game recently. My GT is the same as this name you see to the left.

Also do you live near a gamestation silver? Because Moxxii and Zombie Ned just came out on disc, and if you get it from gamestation you can install it on your console and take it back for a full refund within a week using there epic policy.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will just level up myself for the moment - might take you up on the offer though

I do indeed, and when I bought borderlands in there yesterday, they actually said that to me

I bought Shivering Isle in there and returned it the next day after I'd installed it. The problem is that the add-on disks are almost impossible to get as there are only about 5 in circulation in the entire world

I can now succesfully solo Crawmarex's without modded weapons, sheilds or class mods.

Got myself a load of good unmodded weapons which I've aquired from trading, Crawmarex's drops and the armoury.

The two best ones are my Fearsome Bessie, Damage: 1017, Accuracy: 95 or something, Fire Rate: 0.4 and 500% critical hit. Vicious Orion, Damage: 1019, Accuracy: 97, Fire Rate: 2.7 and 4x shock damage!

I'm guessing those are sniper rifles?

Yeah, really getting into my Hunter. Becoming my favorite class and all. Though I don't really like pistols, prefer snipers and assault rifles.

Have to say (as a lv 20ish soldier), that I have a really powerful blast pistol that really kicks bottom. Having real trouble finding an assault rifle that is any good though.

I'm a bit disappointed by the weapons, I was expecting them all to be customisable to the nth degree. Unless the game becomes a lot more fun, I don't think I will be getting the DLC.

Perhaps because I am playing it solo rather than in a group? Don't know

There are lots of guns, you'll find better guns as you progress. You can mod guns, but I find It takes the fun away.

Playing a group is ftw.

It is just it kind of advertised on the fact that you had could have billions of combinations of gun... didn't realise that you had to find them all rather than the more reasonable conclusion that you could use modules to modify base weapons in interesting ways.

Possibly the biggest let down about the game for me so far.

I've only tried it once, but what is the best way to take on Crawmerax?

Assume 2 player split screen co-op, not online play.

There's a glitch where Crowmarex can't hit you. So you sit there and snipe him untill his back is the only purple area left. Then your friend comes up the lift causing him to turn around allowing you to take some shots at his back.

EDIT: I'm happy to help anyone with boosting to 61, campain, killing Crowmarex and I'll dupe all my guns, shields and class mods for free. I also have a pretty cool skill tree build, though I'm still searching for the best sniper one possibly.
