The unit is classified as an Artillery unit, in which in the Artillery rules themselves describe it as being made up of Vehicle and Infantry model types. The restriction of movement is based on model type, not unit classification.

Where is the term "model type" presented in the rulebook? All models in the unit are the unit type, aka Artillery.

The only consistent ways to apply this would be to say that all models, even the guns, are Infantry, or to treat none of them as Infantry, as you don't know which one is.
Yes, you do know which one is which. Gun models are Vehicles, as explicitly stated. Therefore, anything else that isn't a Gun Model has to be an Infantry model

A Predator is a vehicle. Does this suddenly mean Assault Marines are Infantry, just because the BRB says that 40k includes Vehicle and Infantry models?

The sentence in question

"Accordingly, only infantry, jump infantry, jetbikes, monstrous creatures, and walkers may move onto the upper levels of a ruin - and only if the model can physically be placed there." (pg 83)

doesn't actually specify that it's talking about units. The specification of units is only implied by subsequent sentence.

Otherwise, one must conclude that the rules prohibit any mixed unit, including an IC of type jump infantry and some infantry models, from moving on the upper levels. After all, 'a unit of infantry and jump infantry' is neither 'a unit of jump infantry' nor 'a unit of infantry'.

This would allow the Techmarine Gunner to move if it were actually an Infantry model.

When Predators and Assault Marines become Artillery, then yes. Until then, please read the rules.

And it does, when the TFC is dead.

No, sorry, nice troll attempt, but no.

The unit is composed of Infantry and Vehicle models. Nothing else, there is NO other type of model in there. Yes? Otherwise you are reading a different rule.

So, you are told that, out of the two possible model types (remember, there are NO other model types in there - again, if you disagree, show where this is allowed in the ruleset) one of them is a vehicle. Now, this leaves the other model, which ISN'T a vehicle, as the only other possible unit - Infantry.

It is incredible in its simplicity. If you are told the bag ihas the contents (Apples, Oranges), and you are told what the Oranges are, the ones left *have* to be Apples - there is no other option for them.

I think all the pertinent points of this argument have been brought up and as there is a fair amount of needless bickering occurring, this thread is being locked.
