Like a few others have said. Boring is facing the same army over and over again with no variation. Doesn't matter what army it is if you fight the same style and faction over and over you get bored. It's not just Marines it's just that they focus so much on marines and avoid helping out many other armys. That's what bothers me most often. Though I know that they do it largely because you can release one box and have it apply to 5 armys.

I primarily play Dark Angels, but I keep the Vanilla Marine 'dex around for variety. I find their variety to be very nice.
And locally there is enough variety to keep it fun.

I don't mind it at all. Our local group is pretty varied in the army selection department. I think my army is the most "Vanilla" of the marine players. Then again I'm playing Vulkan-led Salamanders so take that with a pinch of salt.

Of the Loyalist marines we've got 3 Blood Angel Players (one also dabble in SWs the other two have been playing for a while now), 1 that plays Space Wolves (which double as a Chaos army I guess), and myself. There is another guy who has a Salamander army, but I don't know if he is still playing it. Of the Traitor Legions we have 1 Khorne heavy army, 1 Slaanesh heavy army (Dakka-ite Dartorn), a mixed-bag chaos army, and I think another random chaos army.

What this means to me is that if I face a Marine army it's not likely to be the same as the last one I faced. Keeps it fresh.

From our initial pre-campaign clashes, I can tell that our upcoming pre-Heresy campaign will be much fun, even though it is almost 100% marines on marines. The Liegions are just so steeped in lore that one can't help but excange witty banter or somesuch (like "Great Crusade high five!" before rightiously smiteing some xenos scum in a 2v2 game) and calling out individual players for a match based on what liegion they play (ie SW on DA grudge match) Much fluff ensues. From Terminator sargents to jumppackaploosa each player picked out a "hat" and stuck to it. Fully painted armys help.

I pwn them, always, so, yeah, its kinda boring.

I find myself fighting Eldar more often than marines so sometimes it's a good change of pace. Really would like to face the out there armies like Witch Hunters and Dark Eldar though :(

SM can be fun, only really get boring with too many marine vs marine games, and you will play several of these games in all likelihood.

Just be warned, as you have played 'nids and orks, you may be used to various textures and paint styles, and lots of customization among large hordes of models. SM are mainly one texture (sleek power armour) in various positions bearing various guns with less models, not nearly as much positioning and customization, but not as much sheer painting to get done.
