Taking leadership tests is what ends the game if I remember correctly, and this is done after 50%. I took a simple platoon with minimal heavy and special weapon upgrades. I think I made it up to 22 models (counting HWs as 1 model). I spread out my guys and try to avoid prolonged combats so I can essentially take a volley at a heavy hitting CC unit as he leapfrogs through my men. Works pretty well.
