The thread is already dead because your question has been answered and confirmed to death at this point. Pretty pictures painted by BoB Ross himself were even put up for visual reference.

From here im just going to say please read the pages already pointed out in the BRB.

Forgive my ignorance, but why if you measure range from the hull and you place flame templates "touching the base (read: hull)" of the firing model would you have the flame template anywhere near the side sponsons. LOS is taken from the weapon yes but is the template placed from the weapon (thus losing range)?

This has already been mention in this thread. I highly suggest you read the rules in the BRB on the pages listed.

It not only explains why in great detail, but also provides pretty pictures for those who cant read.

It doesnt get any clearer then this. I fail to see why you still dont get it.

zeshin:

You measure all ranges not involving firing vehicle mounted weapons from the hull. All ranges involving firing a vehicle mounted weapon are measured from the appropriate weapon mounting. The shot/template/blast marker then originates from the barrel of the gun.

The only time that you measure from the hull for firing wepons is for passengers. Even then, you only measure from the firing points (unless it's open topped, of course) and would then place the template. The problem comes from trying to fire a template out of a non-open topped vehicle like a Chimera. You cannot legally place the flame template so that it does not overlap the Chimera.

This is quite clearly spelled out at the beginning of the vehicle rules.

Wow. Thank you, I've managed to miss that second paragraph on the measuring distance from or to vehicle section. Now to post a little something in the "rules I'd like to see changed" thread. lol

Hi gray elder's double:

As many have stated many times , the top turret is not the same as side ones. Hence why i asked if you guys played actual game because
3D is different than 2 D

Hello Mr Sockpuppet.

Yes, technically, the Flamestorm will never be able to fire. This is what the rules say. If you don't like it, make a house rule, but do NOT have the nerve to claim it is supported by the rules.

While the rules have glossed over this subject firing over part of the vehicle because of how the turret is placed seems to be much less abusive than firing through the sides of your vehicle because you want to kill more.
