The #2 overall (Jason Roy? I think) scored 0 of 11 on the quiz and that was enough to prevent him from winning overall. That's what he gets for not reading every book in the Horus Heresy!!

Well, you can't expect them to figure out whose it was with no name... that's like the cardinal sin of turning something in. If it's ripped, you can tape it, if it's wet, you can blow dry it... but if there's no name with that many people, there's really nothing you can do.
I guess they could have given him a chance to turn it in later... but then they would've needed to have done so for anyone who didnt' turn one in.

I think the Nids were a bit MIA because the codex was so late to release, as the black box copies were delayed as well as a general week delay, that people did not have enough time to playtest, decide on the army, paint and model, before the late March deadline. There were some strong Tyranid builds, and good looking armies, Im sure at Ard Boyz and even next years Adepticon they will make their presence felt.
On a bit of a side note, First codex release after Adepticon last year ---- Guard
Most common army at Adepticon this year------Guard (Full year to playtest, build, design)
First codex to be released after this years Adepticon ------Blood Angels
Most common army at next years Adepticon----?????

At least he lost to Thomas with it. And I think he actually just didn't take the quiz at all, wandering around goofing off. So yeah, maybe he was tired or something.
I think the #1 to make Adepticon better would be to add 6-8 hours to every day, so that there is time to sleep off the drinking between days.
And also, don't shuffle for Blackmoor. He will deal you 2-7 off suit every time. Shennanigans!

Jwolf, you need to post your Chaos list from the Gladiator. Man, what a cheesy list! Possessed and 6 units of lesser daemons!!? Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and DD2 took 51. Not too shabby for our first outing and doing approximately zero pre-tournament strategy meetings.
Next year we need to focus on the missions better (though hopefully they won't be as mind-numbingly confusing) and we should do fine. In our 8 games we had 4 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws but none of our wins were huge and I think that's what hurt us.
But hey, we did score more points than DD1 in painting and the quiz so take that!

I actually ended up with a copy of JWolf's list (he played and beat one of my team mates with it), and I'm very impressed. It was like Abaddon and some guys, and he aced Mech Guard that seized the initiative on him and had a Baneblade.
|
All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

The field was split by generating a random set of numbers like this:
http://www.random.org/sequences/?min=1&max=240&col=1&format=html&rnd=new
Players were then sorted alpha/numerically by e-mail address and the the above like of numbers were assigned in the generated sequence, top to bottom. The player list was then sorted by that number and split into 2 120-person groups.
The Yellow/Blue groups just referenced the color of paper their packet was printed on. This was done for the benefits of the judges so they could easily identify result sheets and make sure they went into the proper tracking software.

Hey, we got middle of the pack(thanks to a bad pairing of opponent halves in Round 3 to Sad Pandas and Reecius and I completely failing our Stupidity check in Round 4 and pulling the greatest tactical blunder we possibly could).
Yeah DD2 got up to table 20 and then we had a tough draw, pulled a minor victory and then we dropped down to play Da Boyz and pulled a minor loss.
Platuan4th and I ABSOLUTELY blew our stupidity test! Hahaha, we just made a dumb ass decision with our strategy and then compounded it with bad dice. Oh well, we had a great time all the same.

Just for reference, Reecius, table numbers don't actually mean anything at Adepticon. They randomly assign pairs to tables.

One side had more big names in it, but both had a lot of talent.
JWolf got second in the Gladiatory with such a crazy list, like 6 units of lesser daemons, Abbadon, Raptors, Possessed, just not what you would expect in a field with super heavies. Very impressive.
@40KEnthusiast
You and Black Blow Fly are two of the only guys I didn't get to meet from Dakka, which was a bummer. Maybe next year. Automatically Appended Next Post: Janthkin wrote:Just for reference, Reecius, table numbers don't actually mean anything at Adepticon. They randomly assign pairs to tables.
Oh, well then NM! Haha, and nice to meet you Janthkin, it was good to put a face to a name.
And Janthkin rocked the nids at the Championships, he was one of the few. Automatically Appended Next Post: And I didn't get to meet Muwhe either, which I wanted to.
Oh well, next year I will try and get more Dakkaites checked off my list.
A big group of us went out to dinner the second night, which was a really good time. Got to meet a ton of fellow gamers. That is one of the best parts, just making new friends.

My Gladiator List:
Abaddon
8 Possessed of Tzneetch (Champ)
6 Chosen, 3 Meltas (Champ with Fist and Melta) in Rhino
2x 8 Berserkers (Champ with Fist) in Rhinos
5x 5 Summoned Lesser Daemons
5 Raptors, 2 Meltaguns
2x 2 Obliterators
Daemonic Land Raider
My Rounds were:
Chaos Daemons (43) - Skarbrand and Abaddon - what's not to love?
Guard (27) - Hellhammer Leafblower that siezed on me. 2 Rhinos and Land Raider dead before I could act. Thank god for Warp Flux.
Guard (43) - Another Baneblade variant Leafblower list. Got lucky on turn 1 kill of the Vanquisher and killed everything that tried to cross the board. A Rhino drove over into his backfield through a hail of bullets (5 or 6 penetrate 1s); Berserkers in the backfield with Lesser Daemons; oh my.
Guard (43) - All foot Guard, giant blobs backed by Straken, with Al'Rahem coming in on the flank. He played aggressively (we were tied for 3rd) and Abaddon and the boys killed 150+ Guardsmen in a giant scrum. The final straw was his last blob failing 2 Stubborn 9 rolls to get broken and run down.
I had a blast, and 4 good opponents. Gladiator is really fun when it's a game - way more fun that using a Reaver.
