I do find it strange that some of you think that I am the one who is being rude.
Rudeness is hopping on a thread and giving random advice that directly contradicts the criteria of the OP.
Of all the responses here, only 4 have actually given any advice regarding the specific matter at hand...namely, Luna, Toothpick, Great Unclean, and Erasoketa. Those four I do appreciate, as they have a direct bearing on my question, and I thank them.
Honestly, if someone has nothing constructive to add to the specific question being posed, they really shouldn't post at all. Doing so is annoying at best and trolling at worst....and that is something for which I do not have patience. Telling me to paint the inside of the canopy, when I am aksing about advice on painting the outside, is akin to me asking about good shades of blue, and being told about all the great shades of red I should be using....pointless.
If you cannot understand how that can be frustrating, then I don't know what to tell you.

I personally think that your attitude is damaging your responses here. People get confused- they're only human and not trying to directly contradict your requests. There is no need to shape your posts in an aggressive, ungrateful manner, which is how they are coming across. Dakka is a friendly place- remember rule 1. Here is a pic of what I think you're looking for: Credit to: infilTRAITOR

Had quick search of tinterweb and found ...

think it would probably transfer over quite well to a Valk for a painted canopy

What I find strange is that someone who obviously spends as much time here as you do would not understand the purpose of a public forum.
You are not talking with customer service here - no one is obligated to answer your question to your satisfaction exactly according to the guidelines as laid out by you (or at all for that matter). This is a friendly community of enthusiasts who enjoy discussing and sharing ideas about their hobby. Just because you can't be bothered to appreciate free advice about how to shade the inside of a canopy or whatever when it's kindly offered up by someone only trying to help does not mean that others browsing these forums won't find that information useful.
If it's not what you wanted, then simply ignore it or better yet thank them and politely mention that you had something else in mind. But to reply to these friendly attempts at helping you with posts that are abrasive at best and insulting at worst is something for which we do not have patience.
And if you cannot understand how that can be offensive, then I don't know what to tell you.

Thank you for the pics of the Valks/Lightning. Those are indeed the types of ideas that I am looking for. Like I said, I haven't seen a painted Valk canopy before, so they really help get an idea for how others have done it!
@Trinkaro...
You have added nothing to the discussion that I started about painting canopies. Instead, you simply popped on to call me "rude". If you feel the need to continue to insult me, please do so via PM, rather than taking up space in this thread. If, however, you have some real info on the subject, I would be glad to see it posted here.
Thank you

Nice one Tinkaro
@Alerian: I wasn't trying to troll or be annoying; honestly
If I'd known that the whole thing was already assembled i wouldn't have bothered spending some of my time trying to think of a better way to achieve the effect you wanted with, arguably, less effort.

K guys , before this thread ends up with mods involved , please let me try to explain the situation from the
middle .
Alerian , i understand your eagerness at wanting for complete the mini , the canopy being the last piece of puzzle makes
you abit uneasy when none of the tips seems to be what you want "directly"
But please consider the following:
On forum , we are used to been quoted directly if you are talking to a specific person. Because often then not , we have assumed
the reply was for us , but ended up been for someone else.
So confusion #1 , when you replied something like "yes thats what i want" we arnt 100% sure who's reply is what you want.
We can assume yes , but still not too sure.
Confusion #2 , many of us have suggested painting / tinting / inking from the inside while keeping the outside smooth and glossy for this sole reason.
The tinting color gives the idea that it has property of some sort of glass material , while blocking abit of the light out.
In other words it does many things: a) It makes the inside obscure like you wanted. b) It reflects enough light to function like an actual mirror or window , like you wanted.
You said 4 of us ended up giving you something helpful , i'll just use myself as example. I wasnt trolling , i was confused ( just like im sure everyone else here was )
eventually i have the luck of finding what you wanted , and you are happy i guess. That doesnt mean the others arnt trying to help.
So advice next time:
Be specific to who you are replying to.
Keep cool and calm , for whoever bothered to reply in the thread in the first place , they are more likely than not here to help you.
Whether or not we succeed in been helpful to you or not is not our choice. So when you get impatient for our attempts to assist you,
we cant help feeling you are ungrateful.
We dont know your skill level , or how you think. When we give you suggestions to "emulate" an effect you might be looking for ,
instead of snapping at us telling us no thats not what you need , perhaps you are the one that is responsible to be crystal clear about it.
The more details you can give us , the easier we can assist you.
So lets all get along , and i hope so far you have found what you are looking for ,
if not , tell us in detail what you have in mind and we can continue to attempt to finish the canopy together.
