Well to my mind Dash has pretty much settled this topic: Sluggas it is. I also understand his argument that the choice hinges on gameplay variables, which I fully agree with, but
1) the benefit of a Slugga charge cannot be overlooked;
2) the shooting threat of 11 shoota boyz is negligable
3) you need to get into CC anyway if you want the Nob's PK to count for anything
4) as Dash convincingly argued, Grots taking fire is a good thing since it means he's diverting firepower from units that are a greater threat to him, so the 'Shootas defending home objectives' tangent doesn't convince me much (Orks aren't supposed to WAAAGH away from the enemy).

So who is right?
Gretchin or Shoota Boyz? I need an answer.

The only obvious answer is for us to get onto Vassal and put it to the test!

indigo_jones, you think my choices are wrong, I think yours are worse....the only way to find out who's ideas are better are to pit them against each other and find out. Get Vassal. Theoryhammer is fun but useless, and you'll never convince me that you know better than I do - you're going to have to show me.
In all fairness, I think Indigo Jones theoryhammered a little better. A few rounds of bashing via Vassal isnt really gonna prove anything.

On a side note ; for ork players out there, don't you realize it's always either you massacre the opponent or you get massacre/lose badly? If that's the case, what's the point of spending 100+ points (shoota boyz) or 40 points (gretchins) to hold objectives? You get full points for massacre anyway.

Whether it's capture & control, seize ground, or anniliation missions, I always play like it's anniliation. I don't know how to play orks differently.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".
