I have noticed that a lot of the more recent SM codexes have overused single words/themes for everything. For example, in Space Wolves, everything is some variation of WOLF OF THE WOLF'S FENRIS WOLFSON WOLF, and in Blood Angels its all SANGUINE BLOOD OF THE THE BLOODY SANGUINE BLOOD OF BLOOD'S BLOODINESS.
It is only logical to assume that next we will see Codex: Black Templars filled with TEMPLAR OF TEMPLE'S TEMPLENESS, and in Codex: Dark Angels we will see ANGELS OF ANGELIC PLASMA SPAM ANGELS, and in Codex: Blood Ravens we will see SPEHSS MEHREENS OF STEHL REHN AND THE EMPRAH'S FUREH...IN SPEHSS

If your right Corvus and I think you are, by the time GW reaches Chaos Space Marines, it will be so cringe worthy, it will be epic (complete with a story of Abaddon punching an Avatar).

SM have assault marines of their own, yes they really do. Biker command squad is pretty scary.
Chaos has raptors and bikers
DE have raiders
Necrons have wraiths that move like jet bikes.
Eldar have seer jet bikes.
IG have cavalry (rough riders)
Do I have to list more?
Except you said most units that want to get into assault have ways to match the distance, which is simply not true. Let's see, in chaos alone:
Possessed, Dreadnoughts, CSM, Zerkers, Plague Marines, Defilers, Chosen, need I go on?
The other options you listed are either not optimal or rely on a low AV vehicle.
Regardless of this useless argument youve brought up, the fact is jump infantry have an advantage with shooting and getting into assault because of the extra 6" move over most units. This is a fact. Shooting should be considered with jump infantry when determining assault outcomes. That was the only point.
Jayden63 wrote:
Yes, GH should care about getting assaulted. Especially by stuff that has Furious Charge. But that's as big of a no-brainer as the idea of shooting the assault stuff. Also, careful movement of the BA player to not get charged, means at least one round of getting rapidfired by something and also in most cases taking plasma or melta to the face.
If your anything less than 18" away, then all the other guy has to do is move 6" forward and be within 12" of the assault marines. The BA are now in range (even rapid fire) of every gun in the game except template weapons and inferno pistols. If your more than 18" away, your not assaulting.
So yeah, range at this point is super important. The BA player has to choose how many free rounds of fire they are willing to give up, and if your using cover to protect against all those AP 3 or better guns your eating dangerous terrain checks - or moving at difficult terrain speeds.
Don't act like jump packs are free assaults. You can loose a lot of models if the other guy doesn't want to get close to you either. Don't think that the BA player is the only one going to be playing smart and trying to use distance to their advantage.
My response to all of this is... And? Theyre jump infantry, theyre exposed to fire. This is a very obvious statement. If its in isolation - one BA jump infantry squad vs one grey hunter squad - the BA will catch them and should never be assaulted. Sure you can rapid fire, but losing ~2 guys isnt going to do much. Even then, it's silly to formulate such a situation as there will be other units nearby (ie. other BA jump infantry from different angles/deepstriking).
Im unsure of what youre even trying to argue. That jump infantry are somehow bad?

Just that you want to include BA shooting casualties on the turn that they charge, but are assuming that they take no casualties on the way in. If one side gets to shoot so does the other, because unless you start 18" or less apart and BA get first turn, they will get shot at by the unit they are going to assault.

Even these options are not that optimal, but are suprising for most when they do.
Possessed (scouts or fleet)
Dreads (blood frenzy)
Defilers (fleet)
CSM and Zerkers rely on that (said) low AV or high AV but pricey.
Chosen...should not be tasked for combat IMO.

But I feel the CSM troops ( CSM or even better plagues) in a rhino is a stronger choice in a vacuum in a one on one with the BA.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Then the hobbyist said that they are totally rubbish and look like pretty-boys. Since then I have doubts about collecting a Blood angels army, what do you think of them, because I know that people have mixed feelings about them, but no fair and balanced reveiws of them. (If this question has been asked already, then feel free to Lock this thread, and I am sorry for writing an invaluable thread if so).
I play the Blood Angels and unfortunately not many people want to play my army because of all the "specials rules" they have first off taint that many of them and yeah they might be the pretty boy's but the utramarines are control freaks each chapter has a different personality to it you dont like the chapter im loyal to fine your entitled to your own opinion everyone has different tastes
