I only have 'contacts' in the FOW world of gaming and they dont share any info as they like getting paid if you catch my drift.

Personally I think it is funny and just a way for people to raz each other. I hate it when someone gets into a rumor topic and starts to wishlist or argue with a rumor with no point of contention. That drags many of the rumor topics into long stupid debates that drag them way off topic.

I tend to regard rumours with the same ambivalence as alien abductions. There may be some truth to them, but you gotta believe the guy tellin the story.

NO internet warriors on here don't bother me I know there sitting in front of their screen waiting for the chance to look like a hat so o well.

I assumed "salt" was the outcry of the posters to the OP - as in, "salt the rumor mongering snail! Salt him!"

I'm afraid to say that it does. Ocassionally it's seems like it's at the stage where if anything that is a real "rumour" rather than "news" gets said, people cue up to "SALT!" like people on a comments board going "FIRSSSSTlololol". I don't like it at all- I just have to think, poor guy...

I do understand that If everyone posted every little suspicion they had, or started threads about the glint in a redshirt's eye, news and rumours would be a dump. So I guess that SALT does a job. I just don't like the way its become so much of a... Thing, and the aim of the Thing is public humiliation (or so it seems sometimes). Even saying "I doubt it" is 200X more polite and less intimidating whilst achieving exactly the same thing.

Saying something might not- or probably might not- be true is an exceptionally easy thing to say; Far easier to say that it might... so it doesn't really need to be said like this.

There are too many rumor / news trolls for me to have anything that hasn't already been flamed hard

yes, i dont post anything unless its something factual that can be referrenced. I saw that GW is expecting to release their new Grey Knights in March 2011, but i dont want to post it.

Salt?

I haven't usually been in he position of having "a scoop" to worry about whether or not people will believe me. I do have a friend whose brother has a fairly big input on certain products but I'm not going to risk alienating them by pressing for info and then spreading it around.

I think it's annoying, in all its variants;

Pile of salt
Pinch of salt
Mountain of salt
Truck of salt
Dump some salt here


Whatever. If you don't believe the rumor at least give some plausible rationale behind your disbelief rather than "PASS THE SALT".
