It's a fair point.
I last played in a GW store in 2004, last time in an independent store - 2006...

I'll buy the hardcover when it comes out, then probably buy one of the mini ones online later.

So back from playing, one things for sure the boys at GW have alot of streamlining to do if the rules rumors are accurate. one problem we ran into was charge movement and frenzy (frenzy is going to need a huge write up, revamp), the other was magic. both of us miscast at least 2 times, with whole rounds where either nothing was cast or the magic phase was skipped. magic isnt just deadly to cast for yourself anymore, its dead on near imposible to get off the big spells without having your head handed back to you for the attempt. if hte current rumors are true, magic just went down the tubes. high points of the game were when the Gors shelled out 20 attacks into my abomination when the flank charged it, and the skaven mortors and cannon that turned whole infantry units 15 strong into craters on the battle feild. oh and when my slaves shelled out 10 attacks into a unit of ungors and killed 4. all in all the game runs faster, infintry will be king, and you will be rolling a hell of alot of dice. hatred and frenzy as they stand are just sick in an infantry unit now. exspect whole units to go puff when your elite boys get stuck in. Again if the mostly confirmed rumors stick that is..... nothing that happened over the day though has convinced me that i will need the new rulebook though, a read thru seams to be enough. have fun playing.

Why worry?- GW dangles the carrot that your army will get a bigger proportion of unbalanced rules, but even if it does it wont last -if you are happy (ish) with your current rules set keep using what you have and concentrate on improving your models.
