Really great podcast; interesting that over at BGG they've pitted you against Game On.
Loved the kids' section. Here's some games that the wifey and I play with our two year old (with modifications) and our nephews/nieces (ages 5-8):
* Feed the Kitty
* Snail's Pace Race
* Polar Derby
and with our nephews and nieces:
* Moose in the House
* Kids of Carcassonne (as previously mentioned)
* Castle Panic
* and soon, Forbidden Island
Some of these games don't really interest us as gamers, per se, but it is a heck of a lot of fun to watch our son understand taking turns, have fun rolling dice, make the connection between dice and pieces (Ravensburger uses a great color system for this), and make the polar bears skate across the ice. Gotta start young...The kiddo and I also enjoy playing around with my now unused plastic D&D miniatures I collected when I used to play skirmish.
Again, you guys do a great job. Thanks for providing your podcast!

Thanks for the comments and the great game suggestions JC!
Do you have a link to that thread over at BGG about D6G and Game On? I'd love to check it out.
Of course, we're buds with Cody and John. We're on the same network (PulpGamer.com) and we've had a few cross over bits with them.
They do a great show.

That's why it caught my eye The geek list creator explained the brackets like this:
To be eligible for this tournament a podcast had to have put out at least 1 podcast in 2010 AND have posted a thread about it in the BGG forum. They had to be audio podcasts and not video. I then ranked them on quantity (not neccesarily quality!) to put the podcasts into championship brackets. I only took the 16 that I found with most episodes so podcasts such as Meeples and Miniatures and The Noise Before Defeat just missed out.

Thanks for the details.
Of course, if he had based the inital seeds based on hours of available listening instead of epsiode count...

Hey, guys. Sorry I've been absent. Vacation and all . . .
Oz, fencing . . . I can't tell you how many fights I used to have in grad school, as a fencer, with the fight choreography folks over which made for a more viable swordsman. That was more fun, though, because those fights always DID end in the clash of steel . . . until some melodramatic fool tried to evade a slash by jumping vertically . . . nothing simpler with a sabre than cutting straight up in mid-slash . . . >
Vinsal, vis-a-vis the Aye-aye: Right? cree--py!
Emmkay and BigFriendlyDave. I DO feel I owe you all an apology. I had no idea Refrewshire was going to be such a challenge until I started to say it!
As for content, I guess this WAS more targeted than we intended. IF you don't like kids, or have Peter Lipton . . . I mean, reverse the likes and haves . . . . . . then this was an uphill battle for you.
But . . . you guys would like to hear about Horus Heresy, eh? . . .

A saber fencer huh? I may need to find a new podcast...
I keed I keed, when showered, most saberists are perfectly pleasant.
I love watching stage (and movie) fencing. It's immediately clear who knows what they are doing and who's just faking it.

Eh, I was captain of the fencing team and in charge of training, so I did it all. But when mocking out a rapier duel, the sabre is the closest we could come, which would allow the fight choreography-philes to use the edge, which they always thought was very important.
I just smiled and nodded.
Yeah, it's aggravating (and very common, especially when a 'star' is involved) to watch bad fight choreography. The first Zorro movie was great, actually. They brought on historical advisers and a captain from the US fencing team to make sure the fights were realistic, and it really shows. Most of the moves are actually straight out of the classic saber fencing manuals.
One problem with showering after fencing saber: the welts always REALLY stung, that first time they got hit with water.
Probably why saber fencing always a bit more . . . ripe . . .

Saber would be best for stage combat. Foil and epee have too small of movements in comparison.
I always loved "The Princess Bride" for the initial fight scene between Inigo and Wesley. Pretty good choreography and shouting classical fencing moves at each other in the process.
