Currently reading Ciaphas Cain because it was about the only series universally liked on dakka.

I find them rather entertaining to read although things are getting a bit predictable now. I don't really like how the second book (Caves of Ice) was pretty much a copy of the first (For the Emperor). With Cain running around tunnels because he's so awesome at that and saying "but it was about to get much worse" every two sentences.
Haven't had a single "wow, didn't see that one coming" moment yet two books in, but I still have hope.

I enjoyed some of the early stuff in the original 'warhammer fiction' line, back in the early 90s, but haven't really enjoyed much since.

I've read a couple, and they've run the gamut from unreadable (most of of Let The Galaxy Burn) to terrible (Nightbringer) to ho-hum (Space Hulk novelization) to passable (Storm of Iron) to middling good (Eisenhorn, other parts of Let The Galaxy Burn). I haven't read Horus or Ravenor. Overall, they are not especially good, occasionally seem to be paid by the word, sometimes have a shocking lack of familiarity with the fluff, and in some cases, have a fetish for inserting hyphens between two-words that don't need-hyphens in a very distracting-manner.

I have read few books based on WFB. Gilead's Blood by Dan Abnett, my first BL book. I LOVE it. I've read also Guardians of the forest by Graham McNeill, it's ok. Heldenhammer, not very fond of this one. And getting into Malus Darkblade novels.

First and Only was my first 40k book and my 2nd BL book. Never stopped since then Eisenhorn, HH series...

Now I would like to read Ciaphas Cain series. And I'm waiting for the books of BT and SoB to be published here in Spain.
