Ive found that bonesword warrior broods come in handy against certain opponents, and do their job well enough to justify points cost. Close combat heavy marine armies and orks being the primary foe. But they are a solid choice.
I think though that having variety in your tyranid troop choices is very important. I run something like this
4 warriors with boneswords, toxin sacs, deathspitters.
2 squads of 10 genestealers with toxin sacs
2 squads of 10 gaunts
1 tervigon.
It gives me a very hard hitting unit, some fairly decent sneaky disruption units, which are good for getting onto enemy objectives. 2 tarpit/screening units, and a big tough scoring unit that can make more screening units.
