If you have to rely on unexpected money from your wife to do something nice for her every once in awhile you have already lost the battle and this flanking maneuver will only postpone the inevitable. If she is trying to do something nice for you run with it and return the favor later on, it is a two way street.

When women do something nice for their guy, and their guy takes advantage, they tend to feel unappreciated. I'm not saying not to enjoy yourself, but showing appreciation goes a loooong way to keeping your significant other(s) happy.

Not my experience generally but I have been out of the dating game for 14 years due to marriage. I do nice unexpected things for my wife and occasionally she returns the favor. We both enjoy seeing the other person happy whether that means the occasional new dress for her or 40K model for me.

I told my wife about this thread and she said what would you do if I gave you £100 pounds for no reason.

I said find the bastard and knock him out.

She laughed and then said no seriously and when I said take her out for dinner she said I was an idiot and I should spend it on myself as that was the point in giving it to me. It doesn't really work in our house though because the day my wife gives me money rather than the other way around is the day I star playing LOTR.
