Challenge him to a friendly game! make up some quirky rules for it that would throw a healthy dosing of weirdness into the mix and unbalance both of you so that you can learn something new, and you can have fun while doing it. Remember, IT'S A GAME WITH LITTLE TOY SOLDIERS. If you take this seriously, go read a newspaper, and see that there are some pretty heavy things going on in the world. you play this game to have fun, so have fun with friends!

Also, point out to him that marines are the most common army out there. This'll be good experience, and no matter what, be a good sport during the game. Bring snacks to help (subtly, of course) reinforce the idea of fun.
