Quarter mill over a decade isn't that great. Especially if that's his only income.

...which it isn't. He would also get a salary from each job.

My page heading is: "One of my co-workers got sacked for theft l There's no 'I' in Dakka"

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

His job was to take money from everyone who came into the club and then stamp their hand; he was simply under-ringing the till and lowering the entry figures every night. I only caught him when one of the bouncers had clocked 220 people coming in, but the guy on the till had only got 190. At £10 per person, he had lifted nearly £300 for a single nights work/thievery.

Me and the owner locked him in the club after closing and confronted him about it, he admitted taking about a grand total so we gave him two options: 1) We call the police, have him arrested and tell all his friends/acquaintances/prospective employers what he was doing. Or 2) He works for free for a month to pay it back, then he's fired but we'll give him a reference.

He chose option 2 and to my surprise actually worked the whole month. I still think he took more than a grand though, the bastard.

Wasn't giving him a reference a bit morally dubious of you guys? You pass the problem on to someone else

Passing the problem on is my favourite way of dealing with problems

I know how you feel, one day one of the craps dealers I worked with got cuffed at the table in the middle of a game!

Long story short it turns out he had been stealing stacks of $25 dollar chips every day for the last 6 months, to support his heroine habit...

All in all they have him on camera taking over $250,000 in chips.

But the funny thing was he got a lawyer and got off on all charges because he never personally cashed in the chips for money (I think he got his dealer / GF to cash them out), so in essence he was stealing only piles of clay, and got a slap on the wrist.

Holy crap, that's funny.

So he stole 10,000 pieces of clay with a manufactured cost of perhaps a quarter apiece? A couple grand total? Nice.

Yup,

right before his break if the table was cold he would grab 2 stacks from the bank as the player threw the dice (since everyone is required to watch the dice in the air.)

Thats $500 a stack, so $1000 every break depending on the take. Keep in mind that dealer get 6 breaks a night.
