Wolf Guard, I just like them more. OK, so not really a valid reason.

That was a bit childish of me to say, I admit. Stupid as well.

We've already seen that he'd hit with 4, wound with 3 and I'd save 1.5. So, it's up in the air whether or not you'd even kill him before that. And then, we'd go at the same time. I'd pour everything into the unit except one TH/SS into Belial. We can sit here and measure manhoods all day. I can't say that I'd definitely beat you anymore than you can say that about me.
As far as the term vacuum was used, apparently I misunderstood what you meant by it. Explain what you mean by vacuum.
puma713 wrote:If I remove the Cyclone missile launcher out of my above unit, we're the same cost. And you got the charge, and I gave you the benefit of the rolls. I don't get how that's "spending way too many points".
I was talking as a force in general. I can pump out more complex terminators for cheaper than Loganwing can. Mind you, I realize that you wouldn't use all terminators in a loganwing list like you could pull off with Deathwing, but the original post is about a pure terminator force, unless my powers of inference are failing me.
puma713 wrote:It would be worse for you, because you'd have less attacks.
And so would you, because you would lose the ability to counter-attack. I would still be swinging @ a +1 in comparison to you due to the banner.
puma713 wrote:I was simply trying to prove a point that Wolf Guard shouldn't be so simply discounted as inferior to Deathwing when someone can show that they aren't.
I never said they were inferior in general. I think the point I was originally trying to make was lost when I tried to flex my e-peen. I wanted to show that as a fighting force, Deathwing is an amazing scapel force (Which I believe was said already). I failed to do so, and I doubt I can show it now after my asshattery
Fact is, you can pump out more terminators for cheaper with Deathwing vs Wolfgaurd in an alpha strike situation, just because you do have to buy that drop pod for the squad and that 275 point HQ. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, as far as looks go, if you have the time and willpower, green-stuffing robes onto the DA'S looks amazing... Also, there shoulder pads look just as sexy as those Wolfguard shoulder pads do =P

Take out all extenuating circumstances. Who shot their heavy bolter, charging through Murderous Hurricane, whether or not the Cyclone shot, whether or not Ravenwing are rolling up on the flanks. Just an assault out of theory, without other battle situations factoring in.

That's true. A pure Deathwing army is cheaper - you're right there. If I field my Loganwing, I only have 4 (I think) terminator squads. The rest are HQ, Drop Pods and Long Fangs. But yes, the OP was about all terminators. Again, that's sort of what I meant by vacuum.

True, but someone has to assault someone else. If I assault, I get +1 attack. If I don't assault, I get +1 attack. I mean, we could do the math without either side assaulting, but I think we both know what we're getting at by now.

I got your point, it was not lost on me. I know that Deathwing are a great force. There's no denying it. I'm just not sure about flexibility. Numbers, yes. Do numbers = flexibility? Tactically, maybe. But if you offset those numbers with other tactical advantages, then it all comes out in the wash. It's difficult to say without actually throwing down on the battlefield. I think Deathwing versus Loganwing would be a good fight. It wouldn't be handed to one side or the other. It would be a knock-down, drag-out as it should be between two chapters that have been enemies for millennia.

Hmmm, interesting...
What general area do you live in, I you don't mind me asking
I would love to play a Loganwing vs Deathwing. All the space wolf players I play against at my FLGS don't field enough terminators with Grimnar to make it a Loganwing force, even though that's what they call it.

I live in the Southeast - in Alabama. It would be quite a drive to throw down About as far west as my brother and I travel to play is Mississippi.

Well isnt that what the fluff on both armies describes, or am i crazy? That is also probably why the SW are the other terminator capable army, so that DAs and SWs can beat the stuffing out of eachother all day, and somehow still call their own best.

I'm not at all familiar with the DA Codex but I have the latest SW Codex and if Wolf Guard Terminators manage to fire first they do have the option of combimeltas...
