Sorry to keep bringing back this thread. Finally obtained my codex and can see what the point values exactly are. Again, considering the AoBR SMs im facing, would a single trukk by itself be worth it? how about 10-15 shoota boyz by themselves?

a trukk is always fun, even if it breaks it can do fun stuff. It really doesnt have too big a chance of hurting your orks inside, maybe 3 have to make a save on average, plus you can go 18 inches forward with em! Boyz on the ground, will get shot and die, in the trukk at least they get to kronk some heads, even if they destroy your trukk, you prolly saved some boys and got closer in most cases

W/D/L/ A(a= Annihilated beyond doubt)

Orks =44/2/9/2 15k+ pts (assembled/broken)
Black Templar= 4/1/2/1 3k 2k pts (assembled)

Warlordrons'swaagh is half right...half wrong on that one.

One trukk against the AOBR SM will more then likely eat it on the first turn. MAYBE make it past that. Remember that even the lowly bolt gun can glance on the trukk, and cause some damage since trukks are open topped. Not to mention that the dred in there will make one trukk go the way of the dodo. And even though the explosion is weak, remember your boyz most likely will only have a 6+ save, so thats not good at all.

Trukks are best used in 2 ways.
#1 they are used in groups, meaning more then one. I normally run 4 with the #2 added in
#2 KFF BigMek. Stick him in a group of 11 trukk boyz and he can save all your trukks from a world of death.

This works great because it makes your opponent think what he wants to shoot at, and keep in mind that 50% of the shots are ignored anyways. Also grot riggors are a cheap, smart choice. Ive had many a trukk get immobilized and those guys saved my life.

Excellent, this is exactly what I was wondering. I think im gonna do without trukks then. WHats your opinion on lootas? Ive heard good things about them and I really like the models. If I was to take them, howmay would you recommend?

just curious, are the point value in the black reach introductory pamphlet correct? It doesnt appear to mention 5pt bosspole, or the SM captain's 15 pt power sword

If you have 2 AOBR's you have a bunch of Sluggas (and a nasty pack of Nobs)- get them 3 - 4 trucks and hurl them at the foe. Another nice thing with all those boys is 3 Kans to walk in front - but ideally those should be Shoota boys.

I love my Lootas. Especially when you are hurling trucks like that - the enemy is busy with the assault and usually leaves the Lootas alone. They need a few turns to get the lucky rolls (3 shots each!) that makes them shine. Lootas will not always shine, however and will be frustrating some games. Other games they will rip your opponent a new one and your friends will come to fear them out of all proportion to their ability!

Save all the Burna arms until you have a couple of Battlewagons too. Buy an Orc fantasy box (slightly cheaper, and lotsa good bits in there!) mount the Burna arms and then go hunt some Termies.

I dont think that pamphlet took that wargear into consideration when they printed it so its as if the model didnt have it...that pamphlet was for an intorductory game...

Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak...
