You know, some pre-painted games can make a good gateway for kids. My eldest is a junkie for Mech Warrior, the clix battletech game. He just likes to sit there and blast away with the models at range, but he is learning tactics. Mostly we just have a good time rolling some dice.

As a father of 2, I can tell you from plenty of experience.
1. At first, the babies basically rule your life. So for the first 6 months-ish your probably not going to be able to play unless your wife/girlfriend lets you take the night off. Just remember youll have to repay the favor or she will murder you.
2. Now that my kids are getting older (5 and 2) Im able to play alot more. Infact my son wants to play REALLY bad, and so he watches me play and talks about who would win an Ork or *insert random badass* So soon Ill be teaching my boy how to play and stuff (for real, not just a quick 5 minute game)
3. Oh well I kindda answered that one lol. My daughter is the youngest, so she doesnt talk a whole lot and the only interest she shows is stealing and breaking things
My son on the other hand, LOVES IT. I gave him that booklet that comes in the AOBR set and he reads it all the time. He always talks about what army he wants to play and sometimes Ill give in and we will p[lay a quick bar brawl (gotta love Orks, reason for fightin is really easy)

Well at first your wife will be a bit right, like I said youll have no time for yourself, and sleep will be a fond memory when your trying to change/feed the baby in the middle of the night in a foggy haze. But usually around the 6 month area they start to let up on slowly killing you. Having a baby is just friggin awesome, they steal everything you knew from you and become your world. But really give it time and youll be back to your old gaming ways in no time

Congrats btw

During their 1st year you'll have spare time have they spend lots of time sleeping. However as your spouse will be really tired during the first months after the baby is born, expect to spend lots of time on housekeeping and other stuff, as well as taking a nap from time to time to recover from lack of sleep time.

Once they start walking, be sure your wargaming stuff and hobby supplies are packed away when not actively using them: you don't want the apple of your eyes chocking on a SM bagpack, spilling paint everywhere or (much worse) playing with greenstuff like it's Play-Doh. Children normally take naps during afternoons until they're 3, so you'll have time to paint. Just don't expect to put in lots of hours at once.
