-facepalm- dammit

So, I was in this place people call the mall a while back. And I had the urge to expel some bad spirits. As I went into the bathroom, I chose the urinal closes to the corner so I could have some privacy. So I whip out Lord Pevincy and let him loose the bad spirits. Well, I was looking at the wall as the Lord was expelling the spirits and I seemed to have gotten distracted. Turns out, I missed a little.

SO I'm sitting at my computer right, and I have a Coke, Bottled mind you. But it got warm, so I got a Coffie cup and I filled it with the coke and some Ice and I sipped as I did my internet stuff. So like and hour passed and I hadn't sipped any of it. and when I go to sip it, I notice that something solid is in it. So I'm like, "No, why would there be something solid in my coke?" SO I pull these solid THINGS off my tongue and guess what they are? F ING ANTS! I was like WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And so I ran into the Kitchen coughing and what not and I threw those little bastards down the drain with a flood of hate and cold water.......those bastards are lucky I don't have my Nucians yet!!!

What would be the most interesting plot development?

"Lofn"

On topic, it's really really unlikely for both, the logic that most people are using, that they "look similar enough" isn't really good enough, as far as biology goes. I think that Eldar have a significantly different reproductive system than ours. As for Tau, people are saying that they're mammals, but they're not even from Earth, so you can't classify them under our terms, especially given the tiny bits of fluff that exist for them.

Question: Can Xenos and Humans cross breed?

Answer:

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

FWIW, way back in the day (WD90 something?) the original Index Astartes article for the Ultramarines stated that their Chief Librarian was half-Eldar/half-Human...

Obviously, 40k fluff has moved on a bit since then, but what are you gonna do?

On an unrelated note, and anyone looked closely at Tigurius' ears to see if they're a bit, uh, pointy-er than usual?

No. I'd have to say that if this was attempted no offspring would be produced. The fluff from Xenology and the codexes demonstrates that the Eldar and Tau are very dissimilar species from humans. The former is vastly more complex while the other is closer to a deer.

But could the act be attempted? Probably, though it might not be pleasant. Besides who would want to try that with the Emperor watching? (He is ALWAYS watching.)

Anyway, logical analysis won't stop GW writers from doing what they think is cool although they seem to have left this idea in the past.

It would if you are a human, but not if you are certain kinds of aliens.

The reason is that bestiality is having sex with a beast. Humans regard all aliens as beasts. All aliens don't regard humans as beasts.

Are you......are you serious?

The OP asked if its possible if a fictitious species that only exists in a few books, some artwork, and as little toy soldiers could possibly procreate with some, again fictitious, far flung future version of ourselves. It's fiction! Yes, No, Maybe, it doesn't matter. The answer is what you want it to be. No one here, or anywhere else for that matter, is going to be able to prove you wrong ever because it's not real to begin with.

Think about it this way, no one has ever seen a Tau that DIDN'T have sexual organs on their knees. Must mean it's true, right?

It's all good. And yeah, different is definitely what they were! I forget where it came from but I remember reading somewhere that the original Ultramarines fell to Chaos so the 'current' Ultras were just the second iteration of the original chapter. Not sure if that's true.

As a biologist i would like to point a few things out.
Xenos by definition are alien to us. In order to cross breed you need to be fairly similar to your mate. and even then the offspring are often sterile or of compromised health. Look at ligers or wolfin. neither is in the best of shape. Mules are steril. Most crossbreeds suffer from impaiment of some kind.
Most species have some form of natural anti crossbreeding built into their DNA. They may mate at a different time or place, their sexual organs may be shaped so as to prohibit sex with other species which is common in insects, they may have pre zygotic or post zygotic mechansims that interfere with reproduction.
In short, when you consider the potential for one of the dozen or so alien races represented in the 40k universe being able to crossbreed, the chances of this being a likelyhood are almost nill.

Chief Librarian Astropath to be completely precise. He also served with the Dark Angels before the Ultra-Marines (who don't even like abhumans never mind half xenos abominations) and as far as I can tell didn't serve with or become a Space Marine until he was over fifty years old. The entire article is pretty much nonsense although there are a few sections which haven't been completely invalidated by current background.

All fluff represents a morass of truth, fiction, propaganda, legends and best guesses. As such it's impossible for GW to ever truly retcon something out of the background.

Look at Squats, supposedly wiped out by the Tyranids decades ago, but lots of people are building Squat armies because they are fun.

In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Morgrim wrote:I think that human/eldar hybrid got retconned out of existence as soon as GW started to treat 40k as more than WFB in space. Besides, if females are genetically incompatible with geneseed implantation then half human hybrids definitely would be.

I don't think human and t'au could fertilize each other, never mind producing young. Too much variation in the species; I recall reading somewhere that branches of the ruminants can't interbreed (no cowxgoats for example) and phylogenetically they aren't too far apart. 'They both might be mammals' doesn't really hold up. If someone can show me a half dog half cat I'll retract that (and that's being generous )

Now, 'can they have sex together' is a completely different story. Not sure about the anatomy of male t'au, so male t'au to human might not be plausible in the conventional sense, but I think any other permutation of human, t'au and eldar is possible. Whether they'd actually do it is something else entirely.

Ahem...

In other news, I have serious doubts about a Tau/Human hybrid being possible, but I think Human/Eldar is feasible enough. In case nobody noticed, they look pretty much exactly like humans. Tau, on the other hand, look like goat/fish hybrids. Think about that for a moment.
