Yeah, the iron warriors just seem slightly better than the fists...At breaking stuff

Anyway, I keep thinking that thunderfire cannons would be good (fluff wise). Drop pods seem okay too. Vindicators just seem to fit them like a glove though.

Probably dosnt hurt much that the Vindicator has a hard hitting pie plate does it ? Lol
I think its likely a successful list man and any heavy choice is going to be a real boon whatever it will end up being.

Umm... I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but your not allowed to put termies inside of rhinos or razorbacks.

Page 102, last line under terminator armor of the SM codex. Termies only fit in Land Raiders, and they still take up 2 transport slots. But yeah I agree they are load hogs.

having only played one game of marines 5th edition, you might see where id make that mistake. And one more reason i dont like termies.
Add to that i have no idea where my codex is since i moved. Please forgive me. In 4th they could load onto Rhinos if they were the Tactical Unit Sgt.

Marines will usually only be called in for special siege situations like ship to ship siege actions.
The city fighting is IG fare, and not likely to involve Marines in most cases. Thats my take on 40K military thinking.

Not neccessarily true. IG are the "We've got time and I don't want to waste my coolio dudes" siege guys and the Space Marines are the "HOLY ! This absolutely, 100%, needs to get taken over night or we're done for" kind of siege army. So for smaller games (read non-Apocalypse) SM are fine siege dudes fluff wise.

Like I said not likely. and Mostly the IG will be deployed. in either case its fighting with bolters blazing.

This isn't "pull-random-false-facts-out-of-our-gak-hole-hammer". Any scenario where the IG can be deployed, the imperial fists can too. Just tell any passer-by fluff nazi, they have an imperial artifact, or a STC, or some such nonsense.

As for the latest imperial fist list, I approve, though as mentioned. Assault cannons are generally greater than lascannon plasma... since you are more efficient against most targets.

---

Jay-Man Mcdougall's list of fluffy units make my imperial fist side want to ram my head onto the sharp end of a pencil.

Alot of those units just don't seem to click.

Me too i dont like Termies. I recently finished ready reading "Hell forged " a Soul Drinkers novel, two things about that, the Soul Drinkers are a founding of the Imperial Fists and are very similar to the Fist. In that book they fight the Fists at the end. And the list i suggested is pretty much what landed on Sarpedeon and shield slammed him with.
He asked for a fluffy list. It seemed like a good idea to me. Sorry it makes you want to perform brain surgury with a pencil.

Just to warn you - painting yellow nicely is a royal pain in the ass...

You've really got to thin it down and do multiple coats, or it ends up looking streaky and blotchy. Makes painting Imperial Fists a VERY time-consuming process.

If you use Iyaden Yellow and then your yellow then you should be fine just make sure you layer it.

The main things the fists do is:
A) Stand Their Ground
B) push the enemy back
C) apply overwhelming firepower.

Grabbing as many big templates and high strength weaponry as possible is a good start. Taking Lysander makes your entire army a tar-pit for the enemy. Give them power fists and watch your fists turn even the most vicious of assaults against the enemy.

Finally, assault terminators for extra-high strength goodness that mulches anything they touch.

EDIT: My paint scheme for my Fists includes using white primer, Army Painter's Demonic Yellow spray, devlan mud, blood and gore red, mithril silver, and grey.

Works well, makes them look gritty, like they have been doing lots of fighting.

10'000 years ago, Terra was under siege. The Sons of Rogal Dorn stood firm at the gate, never letting an inch slip away so long as we drew breath. We were killed in droves defending the Emperor and his Imperium, and we killed many in turn. We defended the Emperor and his Imperium, and this is what it means to be a Fist
