Of course, keeping the Grey Knight is a must. But expanding them to look more like pseudo-medevil knight would be a true bonus.

Ok can someone explain to me what steampunk is? Sounds like something Punkbuster would use to ban hackers on steam...

Also I hope with GK they emphasis on their medieval look, giving them plate armour, different legs and MAKE THEM PLASTIC! The terminators look fine, but i also want them to be plastic. Never again should we have to buy a $27 model to get a psycannon terminator...never again.

And if SOB were to be in plastic would have to really think about that, too.

I want it to be Justicars on bikes though (power weapons please) and for the love of all thats holy give the brother captain 2 wounds, make him cost another few points (and therefore the termi squad's BC) but make him able to survive more than a normal marine. Please GW?

But yeah, Just as long as GW really plays up the medieval theme and stays away from a SM look I'll be happy.

In this case, Wiki will suffice as a source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk

In my case it is not so much about the sci-fi story as it is about the art, do a web search and you should find some cool stuff mixed in with the dross.

Yeah, think of it as Sci-Fantasy with lots of moving Gears, Copper, Iron and Rusted Steel, Analogue Dial Gauges, Steam or Coal Power plants.

The feel should be very mechanical, think Victorian early Industrial England

In the instance of my original post ask yourself, "What if Jules Verne designed a 40K army?"

I think that some of the Inquisition, definitely the Vostroyans, Ad-Mech and death corps of Krieg all in some way could lend to the look.

Now please, do not limit yourself to just the Steampunk theme. I was just using it as a way of trying to get peoples imaginations going on the topic of what concept you hope GW follows when updating/expanding these armies.

Sorry to be a little off topic, but Steampunk got highjacked by a talented necron modellor!

http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/necrons/173108-coolest-necrons-ive-ever-seen.html

Sorry again for linking to another forum, but only site I could find them on that would load at my work

I like the look of the GK. Sure, they do tend to look a bit like Spesh Mareens, but they are, or once were of that designation. The SOB, I'm a rediculous male that loves the whole S&M theme they got going. Nothing like a girl strapped down to a giant machine (penitent engine) that i have to sit there and tickle with a paint brush to make her look pretty. Yes, I fully understand I am going to accidentally incur the wrath of a few people on this, so in advance and forwarning, I'm sorry but thats my opinion. I do agree hair styles on them need some work, and of course plastic, at least for some. I made the mistake of getting rid of my sisters a while back, and I miss my space nuns :( But, I kept my 'crons over them, had more, two old edition armies was jsut too difficult to manage. SOB get a new codex, and you will be able to call me the proud owner of some new ones. One of the things that I do hope doesn't change is the excorcist. I don't actviely recall if the pipe organ medal bit is FW or not, but I'm not thinking it is, I think it's an amazing piece. Loved Karamazov's throne too, and yes it is a little steampunky... but an order such as this deserves that kind of distinction, something unique and awesome. Led by a Saint, might as well be awesome. Oh and since it s a boob cup discussion, Sure ditch them, but still have something that let s the womans features show. Id take the whole army with a reduced armor save to drop the metalized boob cups over something with more common sense and sex appeal. Vet Guard get a 4+ and their models look like they are wearing leather armor. Leather armor can be tailored to fit accentuate a woman's figure, and I'd be ok with that, especially since their faith sustains them, such that it could be explained to modify a less armored unit saving better. I really hope that the rumors that all the Inquisition getting molded together are true. Wouldnt that be wonderful to run some GK and SOB together, without having all those ally issues? I think so.

I can't believe I never thought of Grey Knights as a cavalry heavy force! An entire army on bikes (or here's hoping, Jetbikes) would make an awesome themed force as well as being very unique.

I say reduce the requirement on Land Raiders and such for Grey Knights. They're not just Super Space Marines, they're entirely unique (an army of people all who could be psykers, yet are also 7-8 ft tall supermen?)

To each their own opinion. Seriously, there are some people who actually like the SM models. IMO, I think they are uninspiring and down right ugly. Therefore, the further GK's are from the standard SM models the better.

As far as the Inquistors go, Again IMO, they need work. The lady Inquistors should not look like courtesans that just escaped Louis XIII's court. The should look more like something from the 1300-1400's Italy as opposed to 17th century France.

As far as Sisters go. Changes to the Armour and hairstyles would be nice but I know the hair is going to stay because the army is supposed to be a bunch of Joan d'Arc's.

@themrsleepy-Its ok, and yeah I've seen those necrons before. They are beautiful and I enjoy it everytime I get to see them, so thanks for posting them.

^ See I'd hate to see the Inquisition models look like Rennnaissance Italians... I really, really would. The style they've got going now (on WH at least) i think really suits the dark, foreboding aspect of the army.

Needs some tweaking, perhaps, but not a total style change.

EDIT: Personally, I want to see them steer well clear of the whole "steampunk" thing... GW Have always sort of trod the fine line between Steampunk and straight industrial looks in the models, but I'd rather see them go more towards the darker, more sinister industrial side than the bright, shiny, way-too-many-gears-for-their-own-good, comically large bits of mechanical ridiculousness that is steampunk...

^1300's-1400's Italy is the late Medieval period entering into the early Rennaissance.

Not talking about Petruccio courting Kate here, but about the Holy Roman Empires use of the badassery that was the trained German Warrior/Knight.

This was the age of Full-Plate Armour. This was the Age of the Inquisition and the birth of Friday the 13th. Doesn't get much more grimdark political backstabbing that that.

Aye fair call.

For Grey Knights and the DH Inquisitors i think it fits pretty well, but I still just can't see the WH like that. I think the french revolution association fits them pretty well too (though not as "obvious" as modelling them after the Spanish Inquisition), the political/social tyranny of the age fits them like a glove.

The Sisters Have a Joan of Ark thing going on that is tough to fit with the Inquisition. I could see the echlessiarcy being involved but the have a hard time with the Inquisitors.

Honestly, I have no real idea of what they could do with the SoB. They need changing/updating/expanding, espec ially if allies go away.

Now about Grey Knights, I like Focused Fires idea of Grey Knight Terminator Cavaly. Imagine it, They are all carrying Psy-lances for the Assault/charge and their swords for HtH.

About the inquistion? I'll think on it and see if I can find some concepts.

Yes, the Vostroyans would fit nicely. The bigest problem with the Vostroyan line is that as space cossaks, they should have been rough riders or have had some rough rider models available.

I've been looking for some decent full-plate fantasy Knights to post as concepts but my meager search skills are failing me.

Now for the Inquisition itself, Wyrd makes some really cool models that could easily be converted. I wouldn't mind it if GW used some of their pieces for "inspiration".

Right now, the units that I'm looking or Hoping for:

A Gunslinger/VanHelsing type models for inquisitors.(Found a couple on the Wyrd website)

Grey Knight Cavalry type units(Not Bikers, Cavalry)

A Grey Knight or Deamonhunter unit of archers that shoot Psy-Bolts

Some Shield Maiden units(Male or female that look like the Warrior/Crusader model from the Current SoB codex's paint section)

A walker for Sisters that is not a Penitent engine. Something like a cross between Eldar War walkers and IG Sentinels. Make them Scouting and carrying twin-linked Jeavy flamers or Multi-meltas.

Just some ideas of what I think would be interesting.

@ff: Death Korps of Krieg have sort of already taken the 'Bioinic/Steampunk Cavalry' so Vostroyans probably won't copy that. Besides, Vostroyans came out with CoD. I'm not entirely sure Cavalry perform perfectly in that environment.

GK Cavalry, Cool. Very cool. Entirely there with the whole 'Knight' thing. But how does this make mesh with the idea of a Rapid Teleportation strike team?

For sisters I'd like a bit of consistency in their design. Their armour seems a little weedy at present [That's really power armour?!! You sure your leg fits in there?] while the tanks kits feel a bit on the chunky side to me with the extra detailing. I actually really liked the original immolator, not a fan of the new one with the round window thing. Have a soft spot for the forworld tanks released for sisters although they seem a bit more pdf that catholic nuns form hell.

Myself I hope they don't alter the look of the immolator and excorsist. The fact they are as ornate and such is really cool IMO so I'd prefer that stays. I haven't been enlarging my WH army due to the fact I've heard the rumors about the new codex possibly coming out. Plastic would make them so much better. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they continued to look identical to how they look now as long as they became plastic. I do thing the Seraphim Squads need a backpack more like the Blood Angels Sanquinary guard with there huge wing packs. They're supposed to look like angels and the backpack doesn't give that look at all. I rather hope they keep the ally system though as it fits the inquisitions to join up with other forces to take on the enemy, especially for WH to pull an IG force in to help them out. I do agree the female inquisitor needs a complete redo as the current look holds no interest to me. I need to figure out the best models to use to finish making my custom Inquisitor Lord. I'm making one that the man was half killed in combat so was hooked into like a walker like mechanism. For looks its almost going to be like a mechanical drider. I'm using the tomb spyder as the core lower body and I bought plastic card and a sentinal and am going to cover it in the parts to make it look like a chunky Imperial build with the huge exhaust system. THan I need to build his upper body mounted on it somehow. Thinking I might use one of the warrior priests from WHFB Empire army

I hope the GK look like the 2nd edition Grey Knights, except updated to today's standards. I.e. they look like actual knights in ornate armor (and not in the BA style of piling a bunch of crap on top of each other until you look like a discount clothes rack).

I actually like the current Sister sculpts (all hail Goodwin), but again would like them updated to today's standard: high quality plastic, customizable poses, various fancy bits, etc.

@ Steam Titan- Funny you should say that about your Inquisitor. I was going to post this link yesterday but held off.

See if this is something like what you are trying to do:http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16223&cat=260&page=1

Wyrd/Malifaux has some really good stuff though some that are a little to Alice/Resident Evil. Look through the sight, lots of conversisoin possibilites.

Personally I like this guy for a Male Inquisitor:http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16185&cat=258&page=1" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16185&cat=258&page=1

And this for a lady Inquistor:http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16164&cat=258&page=1
Hope these help.

@Emperors Faithful- I always felt that GW missed the mark by putting Trench warfare models on horse back. Always thought that the Kreig models would fit better in a CoD setting. Just a style preference, but one I feel strongly about. IMO, if GW had taken the Mounted Cossack theme with armoured cyborg horses, the Vostryans would have performed much better in the sales area.

As to the GK's- I was thinking Terminator Cavalry that can deploy as the rest of the Army. A low model count unit of 3-5 models.

@ff: I find that unlikely, as the Vostroyan Cavalry models would have to come from Forgeworld to be any good, as the GW readily available ones aren't even worth mentioning. That said, historically Cavalry were used to some extent in Trench Warfare, and the fact that they are mechanical should counteract some of the nastiness that occurs in the trenches.

Simply put, I can't see Vostroyans (who come from dense crowded hive citites) riding Cavalry. And I certainly fail to see the use of them in a Cityfight.

@EF- See, I didn't get that from the Vostroyan fluff. From what I read their homeworld is not a hive world, but just another planet that is charged with a production and manpower quotas. Yes, they produce munitions and arms but the homeplanet is supposed to be a frozen waste.
