With the rumors of the SOB and GK's possibly being updated, I started wondering what the updated models would look like.

I have been toying with a Steam Punk themed army and think that the inquisitors and vostroyans would best translate. My thoughts on this subject are that in many ways, GW portayed the concept before the fad ever got its name. These thoughts have lead me to wonder if GW will try to capitalize upon the current popularity of steampunk by designing models to further incorporate the look of this fad.

My question to all of you is, "What theme do you think GW will use on the next Iquisition models?".
Also, "What are your hopes for the designs of the new GK & SOB models?"or "What do you hope they look like?".

For the GK's I personally hope they dont look like Space Marines I think a totally new revamp would do them a big favour.
And I know they are Space Marines but a new more human looking model would be great!

I absolutely agree, the GK's actually look like knights as opposed to the SM's being bell-bottomed disco Star Wars NFL players in space. I hope that the models get a little taller/thinner in ratio while keeping the hlaberds and Early Rennaissance Full Plate armeor look. Make the Termies look like a suit of armour built around a body builder instead of the standard out of proportion Head a foot off from the spine SM models.

I don't know about any steampunk inquisitors or such but I do hope that both of their rules/models remain distintive. Maybe do away with all of the allies rules from other books and just give them basic units as a part of their army list.

As to the look? I like focused's idea of taller & slightly slimmer GK's. For the inquisitors, I'd like for them to be a little less baroque and more Vampire Hunter D meets Cardinal Richleau.

Sisters? Instead of S&M suicide girls just make them into the naughty win of a breastplate and catholoic school uniform.

The Inquisitor retinue features servitors of all kind. You can't get much closer to steampunk than the current retinue models, esp. if you look at FW models (DKoK quartermaster!). And there is Inquisitor Karamasov on his steampunk throne.

BTW, I use Vostroyans as my (WH) Inquisitor Guard, as they have the right amount of bling

@Kroothawk- Got any sources for some Steampunk horses for the Vostroyans to ride?

Also, What are your hopes for the GK & SOB model designs? What do you hope to see changed? Any ideas of something you woul like to see in a special inquisitor model?

For Sisters, I'm hoping more and better looking hairstyles, no corsets, no boob-cups, and plastic.

That's rather unlikely... they seem to dislike using characters from books as the basis for models.

@Morgrim- Thanks for the link. Do you know how close the scale is between WHFB and 40K? I know they are close but I seem to remember that some of the lines are different by a couple of mm.
Otherwise it looks like it could be a simple conversion. Again, thanks. If the new codices allow for cavalry I'll be starting on a themed army.

@Melissa- Could you post some of the non-boob cupped armour pics that you have as an idea of what sisters could look lke?

@All Posters- If you have concept art of how you feel the Inq., SoB, & GK's should look then please post them as long as they do not violate Dakka's posting rules.

Those are the main two I give as examples. They aren't perfect, but the give the general style-- a single curved plate, with ornamentation down the center. It's better for deflecting bullets (boob-cups would just channel them into the recess in the middle) and generally looks less like she's wearing underwear outside her armor.

This is only for the chest and abdomen region-- I actually think the arms, legs, shoulders, and helmet all look awesome.

Oh look, another boob cup discussion.

Having sold my Inquisition/GK/SoB forces, I can wait a while for the new release. When I have the cash, I'll probably dive straight back into it with the shiny new *plastic* models.

I actually liked the current GK Terminator look, but I do hope that GW furthers the distance between GK Knights and Space Marines, which looked far too alike for me. I see GK as a very unique force, not a "Shiny BA" codex. As for sisters I didn't mind thier look at all, but more options and different hairstyles would be nice (even though I have no problem with thier current hairstyle). Melissia's curved plate could be interesting, but unfortunately I doubt GW is going to cater to anything like that. I didn't have a problem with how the Inquisitor models looked, but a plastic Inquisitor and convertable retinue would be pretty sweet.

But most of all I want a FLYER! *makes airplane and pew pew noises*

Indeed. Time passing does not change the fact that they don't fit in with the rest of the armor.

So far as the Inquisitors go, I'm really hoping that not much actually changes, especially so far as the Ordo Hereticus/WH models go... (i'm a big fan of the late Georgian Era style of the WH inquisitors... and the rules that go with them...)

I agree with Melissia on the SoB armour change, that would look great and make more sense. I'd also like to see the SoB with slightly less ridiculous proportions (i feel like they're extremely top-heavy at the moment), with less "mannish" faces if that's even possible

While I'm okay with the WH Inquisitors in general, the hairstyle of hte female models is ridiculous and stupid. Apparently they hired Marge from the Simpsons to be their model for that sculpt.

^ I somewhat agree. It fits the style I think they wanted (giant beehive hairdoos taken from the pre-french revolution royalty), but I'm not sure it fits the models (and are totally disproportionate to everything else on the model...)
Couple that with the fact that their faces look like fat cherubs, it's just a touch comical lol.

^ Their armour is still Power Armour though, I think it's a fair stretch to expect them to look like actual "knights" (completely) while retaining the actual power armour.

Personally I think the GK Terminators are pretty awesome as they are, and they have the full armour plating look going on.

If they could get the normal GK a bit more like that it would be incredible IMO.

For Grey Knights-If any army in 40K should have a cavalry unit, it is the Grey Knights.

For the Inquisition-The Baroque Colonial look doesn't seem to fit. I'd like to see them as either Steam Punk or as Very Gothic Warrior Priests/Clerics.

And if SOB were to be in plastic would have to really think about that, too.

Ill be happy with grey knights as well as long as they retain that pseudo-medieval knight look to their armor. It helps set them apart from standard marines. As they should be. Otherwise yes more gothic influence in inquisitor units and mechanical/steampunk elements that GW always seems to have had a penchant for wont go amiss either.
